The theaters of Samara are loved not only by residents of the city, but also by its guests. Among the troupes there are drama, puppet, youth theater, musical and educational. Some have been around for many years, and some are quite young. All of them are worthy of attention and have their fans.

There are quite a lot of theaters in Samara. Each of them has their own repertoire.

Drama theaters

Drama theaters of Samara make up the largest group. All of them are interesting and have their own specifics. But the most important, famous and oldest among them is the Drama Theater named afterMaxim Gorky. It opened its doors to the first audience in the middle of the 19th century.

Children's theaters in Samara are also not numerous. There are only four of them. The most important representative of this group is the Puppet Theatre. The official date of its creation is considered to be 1932. It was then that the legendary Leningrad puppeteer Yevgeny Demmeni arrived in Samara. He taught artists to work with puppets.

Educational theaters in Samara differ from others in that performances are performed here not by professional actors, but only by future actors: children or students.

There are three educational theaters in the city:

• "Plasticine rain" (studio).
• Theater at the Academy of Culture.

The last one is the most popular one. Students of the Academy of Culture of the city act here as actors and directors, as well as sound operators, decorators, make-up artists, costume designers and lighting specialists. Performances here run from October to June, while the academic year lasts within the walls of the institute.
