The future artist was born on February 27, 1923 in Moscow. The family did not live well, but for that time it was the norm. Real success came to Gelena Velikanova after such songs as “The Girls Are Standing”, “Lilies of the Valley”, “Gypsy”. Critics took such uncomplicated and comic compositions negatively at a time when the country needed patriotic anthems. A special term was even coined for them - "lily of the valley art". The song was called bourgeois vulgarity.

Oscar Feltsman did not consider his poems too frivolous and continued to write for the singer. Ordinary people fell in love with Lilies of the Valley, and later they were covered by many performers not only in the Union, but also abroad. Once at a concert, the singer met the poet Nikolai Dorizo. Feelings flared up instantly, and soon all of Moscow was discussing their romance. A daughter, Elena, was born in the marriage, but six years later the couple separated. The woman did not forbid the girl to see her father, although the separation from her husband did not go entirely smoothly. The second time Gelena married the famous director Nikolai Generalov. This union lasted 12 years.

Other activities

In addition to performing on stage, the talented woman has appeared in several films. These were episodic roles. Much more often, she was offered to sing songs for the characters or record compositions for the titles. In 1986, she was offered a position as a vocal teacher at the Gnessin Musical College. Tragic death

November 10, 1998, all fans of Helena Velikanova were supposed to gather at the House of Actors for her creative evening.
