The Prince of Kyiv is going on a campaign against Korsun. The siege of the city continues for quite a long time, and many of its warriors run away from the camp at night. But in the end, the prince shuts off the water supply, and the city surrenders. Vladimir goes to the temple, where he runs into Anastas, Irina's spiritual mentor, after talking with whom, he decides to be baptized.
