The Perm circus showed the first performances in a mobile temporary tent-tent. And at that time it was, in fact, not a local circus, but performances of visiting circus troupes.

Starting performances of the Perm Circus

The inhabitants of Perm saw a circus performance for the first time more than 130 years ago.

The first circus troupe that pleased Perm residents with its performance was the then-famous "Italian Circus" directed by M. Truzzi. A few years later, another eminent circus came to the city, headed by the legend of circus art Vladimir Durov. After that, other well-known circus troupes also frequented Perm: the Borovsky circus, the Eigus menagerie, the Dahomey troupe, the Botsva wax museum, etc.

Perm circus: permanent building

Such popularity of performances in Perm was the reason why it was decided to erect a permanent wooden building for the Perm Circus.

Over the long years of existence, the circus has changed its address many times. The wooden buildings in which it was located burned down or were demolished. Until, finally, in 1970, the Perm State Circusfound his permanent address on Uralskaya Street and a stationary building, which everyone can easily recognize to this day.

The circus building has the classic form of an amphitheater for a circus. Its height is 18 meters and the hall can accommodate 2047 spectators who can sit in 22 rows.

Circus Museum

At the end of 1995, the Perm Circus opened the doors of its museum, the exhibits for which had been collected for many years. The circus staff and its fans carefully kept and then transferred to the museum more than 15 thousand unique exhibits, including old posters, rare books, various photographs from performances from different years, old props and costumes for performances, and much more. The museum exposition can be visited by any viewer after the performance.

In addition to exhibition work, the museum holds zoo lessons for children or "lessons of kindness", as they are also called. These lessons help to expand children's knowledge about animals, instill a love for them and introduce them closer to circus life. Excursions are also held behind the scenes of the circus, to the stable, there is the possibility of visiting open rehearsals. In the museum, visiting the Perm Circus, everyone can leave reviews.

Circus today

The modern Perm State Circus puts on a variety of programs featuring unique animals: acrobat monkeys, cougars, brown and Himalayan bears, poodles, sea lions and many others. Famous aerial acrobats, funny clowns and super strongmen enter the circus arena.

Of course, an important part of the circus program is the performance of animal performers. In addition to the exotic species listed earlier, the circus trainers decided to use in their performances the inhabitants of Russian forests, well-known to the audience: wild boars, bears and lynxes.

And in the rooms the trainers managed to combine seemingly eternal enemies in nature. For example, in one of the performances, lynxes sit on the backs of bears, while wild boars try to perform an elegant dance to the music of a w altz. How about clumsy bears jumping gracefully from pedestal to pedestal?

This whole unique program appeared thanks to Vladimir Dobryakov's unusual method of training, which is based on humanity and good nutrition. Vladimir is sure that you can find an approach to any animal without using force, but only by talking to them, using kind words. And he uses this technique both with obedient dogs and with predators that can rush at a person at any moment. Vladimir's pupils often act in films, for example, in "The Bear Kiss" and "The Cadets".

One of my favoritesthe audience of the numbers is the performance with the horses of the "Amazon". In it, several horses perform a graceful dance, doing everything in sync and rhythm. Spectators are always delighted with this number, marveling at the smoothness and coherence of the movements of such large animals.
