Over the past 10-15 years, viewers have seen a huge number of detective series. Stories about mysterious crimes and the process of solving them became incredibly popular, so the ABC channel, among others, announced in 2011 the release of a new series “The Investigation of the Body”. The actors and roles, written by screenwriter Christopher Murphy, appealed to fans of the genre around the world.

The pilot episode drew 14 million viewers, one of the most successful launches on ABC in six years. Interestingly, in Russia, “Investigation on the Body” began to be shown two months earlier than the premiere in the USA.

Storyline

After the accident, the neurosurgeon Megan Hunt failed to fully recover, so during the most difficult operation, one of the patients died due to her fault. The tragic event affected not only her career, but also her personal life. Husband Hunt filed for divorce and secured custody of their teenage daughter Lacey.

Megan found another use for her unique abilities. She got a job as a medical examiner. With dead people to the doctorit turned out to be much easier to work, but sometimes I still had to communicate with colleagues who considered Hunt an incredible specialist with an intolerable character.

Dana Delaney

The actors of “Body Investigation” should have had a good understanding of human anatomy. The hardest hit was Dana Delaney, who played the role of Dr. Megan Hunt.

The talented actress became famous thanks to the series “China Beach”. Her character - Lieutenant Colin McMurphy - brought not only recognition from viewers and critics, but also two Emmy awards.

After the completion of the project, Delaney actively acted in films and appeared as a guest star in several TV series. In 2007, Katherine Mayfair and "Desperate Housewives" once again recalled the abilities of the actress, but for the main role in the medical drama "Body Investigation" she left the popular series.

The series “Body Investigation”, the actors and roles of which are presented in our review, attracted the attention of viewers thanks to two strong women. Dr. Kate Murphy is Chief Medical Examiner and Megan Hunt's boss.

Murphy has achieved great success in his profession, but in his personal life, everything is much more complicated. Relations with the new subordinate remain a real mystery to the viewer. It is not easy for two smart and attractive women to cooperate with each other, and the conflict over a man only exacerbates the situation. Jeri Ryan did a great job as the incomparable Kate.

Fansscience fiction series, most likely, they recognized the American actress thanks to the Star Trek: Voyager project and the character Seven of Nine (Seventh). In addition, Jeri Ryan starred in the series Shark, Impact, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

No matter how hard the other actors of “Body Investigation” try, all the attention is “pulled” by charming ladies. However, we will also tell about the male half of the series.

Megan Hunt's new job partner is ex-cop Peter Dunlop. After a gunshot wound and rehabilitation, Dunlop decided to try his hand at medicine, where he met a man with the same difficult fate. Peter is well aware that Dr. Hunt is still tormented by guilt, but does not feel sorry for her and does not hesitate to tell the truth about her methods of work. Fans of the series hoped for a romance between Meghan and Peter, but actor Nicholas Bishop had to leave the project due to creative differences.

Hope for happiness in the personal life of Dana Delaney's character appeared in the third season, when Detective Tommy Sullivan appeared on the horizon.

Dr. Hunt dated this man twenty years ago, and now he has moved from New York to Philadelphia and is trying to wake up the old feelings. By the way, Mark Valley, who played the role of the courageous Sullivan, has worked with Delaney more than once on the set. The actors (“Body Investigation” is the third joint project) starred together in the films “Pasadena” and “Boston Lawyers”.

Criticism

The main characters in detective stories are most often men - Richard Castle ("Castle"), Dr. Lightman ("Lie to Me"), Patrick Jane ("The Mentalist"). It is not surprising that the drama with Dana Delaney aroused the interest of the audience.

Interesting investigations and complex relationships between the characters - at first glance, the actors of the series "Investigation of the body" did not show us anything original. However, the screenwriter decided to put Megan Hunt, a woman with extraordinary abilities and a complex character, at the center of the plot.

So, in comparison with typical detective stories, “Body Investigation” showed a significant advantage, but picky critics did not rest on this. Because of the medical theme, the project was desperately reminiscent of the famous "Doctor House", which most viewers recognized as the best thanks to the unusual team of Gregory House.

Unfortunately, the actors of "Body Investigation" and their characters were invisible against the background of Megan Hunt. The cast was constantly changing, and the stories of the secondary characters did not arouse much interest. Story development stalled and the project had to be canceled after three seasons.
