Childhood and VGIK

In November 1956, a son named Lenya was born in the family of Yuri Ivanovich and Valentina Leonidovna Kayurov. Dad was an actor at the Saratov Drama Theater, then at the Maly Drama Theater (known for his performance of Lenin's birth), and mom was a dentist.

At first the family lived in Saratov. When Lena turned twelve, Yuri Kayurov was invited to work in Moscow. And they moved.

Lenya grew up, like millions of Soviet children. He listened to the songs of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Vladimir Vysotsky … Then the boy did not even think about becoming an actor. He did not imagine himself on stage.

Unfortunately, Babochkin's studies were eventually reduced to just a few meetings - he was already very ill. And after his death, Leonid studied in the studio of Alexei Batalov until 1978, when he received a diploma from VGIK.

Cinema and theater

Kaurov Leonid Yurievich made his debut on the screen when he was still studying. He played a hooligan nicknamed Gogol in Vladimir Rogovoi's drama Minors.

The image of the impudent and cynical, charming and self-confident Gogol, striving to enter the Institute of International Economics, and then make a successful career, became Kayurov's first step to success. Then there were a couple more films about difficult teenagers. And all of his characters were united by the fact that they were bright, extraordinary personalities capable of doing an act.
