Modern people practically do not know real folk tales, they read processed works to children. Folk tales were once passed down from person to person, but society has changed so much in the last two centuries that such transmission is no longer possible. Fortunately, in almost every nation there were lovers who collected fairy tales and wrote them down.

True, not all fairy tales collected by Platonov, Bazhov or the Brothers Grimm are included in these collections. You can look at collections of fairy tales published for philology students in very small editions and see for yourself.

Fairy tales in processing lose their "flavor" and originality, but they are suitable for reading to children. Bazhov's tales are perhaps the closest to the original. Bazhov's "Stone Flower" is a very interesting, unusual and somewhat scary tale.

She is the first of the series of fairy tales about Daniel the Master. The tale describes the life and problems of the common people of the Urals. This life is different from the usual life of the peasants. Not inone tale collected by Platonov does not describe the relations of peasants with the master, with the clerk, does not cover the issue of paying dues or performing work on corvee. Fairy tales are about something completely different, they can be called the dreams of the people. These fantasies are not even about a better life, but just about a different life.

Bazhov's "Stone Flower" most actively includes a story about all social relations. Here is the clerk, and the master, and the master, a man with a complex character. In fairy tales, everything is ambiguous, as in life. This is what these tales are interesting for.

Fairy tales describe the further fate of Danila, his life, marriage, an attempt to create a stone flower. Bazhov is interested not only in adventures, but also in the inner world of heroes. He has no villains and definitely positive characters. Danilo is a positive hero. But he leaves his bride, he does not live the quiet life of a famous master, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain is not a villain, not Baba Yaga, she is fair, she stands up for the workers (“Kazakhchikov’s soles”, the collection “Stone Flower” by Bazhov). But this is not a kind sorceress either, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain is dangerous, interesting, beautiful, seductive. It is in these storiesyou can feel the soul of the people, you can guess from them what all Russian folk tales were like before processing - after all, they were intended not only for children, but also for adults.

Unfortunately, abridged versions of the book with the titles: “Bazhov. "Stone Flower". Summary ". In these collections, fairy tales appear in a refined, truncated form. As a result, all their dignity is lost, and they appear as emasculated stories from a children's book.
