The German poet and thinker Johann Wolfgang Goethe once wrote that art expresses those feelings that cannot be described in words. In each canvas, Roman Romanov, a landscape painter, expressed what he could not convey in words - the whole range and gamut of feelings.

Short biography

Roman Romanov, landscape painter, born in 1966. He spent his childhood in Kemerovo. Studied at the Kazan Art College. Later he received a higher technical education, and paints and brushes had to be abandoned. For almost 10 years he worked in the field of industrial design. The artist Romanov Romanov expressed his indefatigable creative energy in car design. These were hard times in the decline of the domestic industry, and designers worked to develop logos or emblems. The artist himself considers this time "the time given to prepare for the search for new means of self-expression." Perhaps it was these 10 years that served as the starting point in his creative path.

One way or another, but since 2000, Roman Romanov - an artist from God - does not let go of once abandoned brushes. Now he continues his career in St. Petersburg. Member of the Professional Union of Artists.

Love Pictures

Actually it is about the love of his paintings. About love for nature, which cannot be expressed in ordinary words. The artist's feelings find a way out and pour out onto the canvases, they are reflected in them. Each picture is a window through which nature opens, beautiful and amazing in all its diversity.

If a winter landscape is depicted on the canvas, then you involuntarily begin to listen to whether a branch crackles somewhere, broken from the weight of the snow; it begins to seem that snowflakes unceremoniously fall on the shoulders, and the frosty wind drives them away, blaming them for bad manners. Barely waking up, the spring stream loudly and joyfully informs the viewer about the arrival of spring, and the summer green grass invites you to run barefoot through it. Roman Romanov, a landscape painter, himself wrote more than once that he does not share his impressions of what he saw, but opens a window through which the viewer can enjoy the freshness of the winter forest, feel the warm smell of rotting leaves in autumn, and hear how the forest rustles in summer.

Secrets of his work

Confidence in every stroke of the brush, in every stroke - that's what catches the eye when looking at Roman's work. This is what gives each element of the landscape such dynamism, as well as the skill with which Roman Romanov, the artist, writes. He paints his paintings exclusively with oil paints. But the special effect of "liveness" of the picture is achieved thanks to the unique technique of overlaying paints. There are no clear lines or sharp transitions.

The wide brush seems to float on the paint layer, so there are no streaks. Many details are made in one stroke. Thanks to the effect of blurring and smooth transitions from one color shade to another, landscapes look “alive”. The use of pastel and soft tones of paints allows you to smooth out color transitions. In Romanov's paintings, nature does not stop, but continues to live - rustling leaves, rustling streams and crunching tree branches.
