Roger Glover is one of the most famous musicians in the world and the most famous bass player. During his long musical career, Roger managed to play with Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Rainbow and other outstanding musical groups, release several solo albums, take part in hundreds of projects of both young and venerable artists.

Biography

Roger David Glover was born on November 30, 1945 in Brecon, UK, into a modest family, in which, besides him, Roger's sister Christine was born five years later.

At school, Roger, according to the memoirs of his contemporaries, did not study well, and from the age of 13 he almost abandoned his studies, carried away by playing the guitar and rock music. In high school, he formed his first band, the Madisons, and two years later renamed it Episode Six, inviting new members, including vocalist Ian Gillan.

The band is playing small gigs in the Brecon suburbs, trying to organize a tour of England, and also doing some trial recordings in the studio, which,however, they are not widely used.

Deep Purple

In 1969, at one of the performances of Episode Six, Ian Gillan met Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore, who immediately invited him to their new project - Deep Purple. Ian agrees and also recommends Glover as a professional bass player to his new friends. The resulting line-up (Gillan, Blackmore, Pace, Lord, Glover) is considered a classic.

From 1969 to 1973, Roger Glover took part in the recording of several full-length albums, also in a large number of tours. Between 1972 and 1973, Glover's relationship with the other members of the band became strained, thanks in large part to Ritchie Blackmore, whose behavior was becoming increasingly authoritarian. It was because of Ritchie Blackmore that Roger Glover was fired from the group in June 1973, but returned during the reunion of the classic line-up in 1988.

Solo career

After leaving Deep Purple, Roger Glover devotes some time to restoring his he alth and normalizing his psychological state, and later decides to switch to the activities of the producer, dealing with later world stars - Whitesnake, Nazareth, Elf and many others.

In 1974 and 1978 he recorded two solo albums - Butterfly Ball and Elements respectively, and in 1983 his album Mask was released.

The musical community quickly realized that Roger Glover records albums not only with former members of Deep Purple, butand with many other musicians. They talked about it. Music critics have noticed that Roger Glover, whose photo hangs on the wall of every self-respecting music fan, not only did not end his career, but, on the contrary, began to explore new ways of self-expression.

In 1978, Glover unexpectedly becomes a member of the Rainbow project, founded by Ritchie Blackmore. Despite the former disagreement between the musicians, Glover recorded with the group until its breakup in 1984.

Next, Roger Glover begins to actively collaborate with a wide variety of musicians, accepting invitations from a large number of young performers and recording less often with already established bands.

Private life

Roger Glover first married in 1975 to Judy Kuhl, with whom the musician has a daughter, Jillian. After 14 years, he married for the second time - with Leslie Edmunds, the union with which was also not durable. Now Roger lives in a civil marriage with his girlfriend Miriam, with whom he has daughters Lucinda and Melody.
