The Izhevsk Opera and Ballet Theater is quite young. It was created at the end of the 20th century. His repertoire includes operas, ballets, operettas, musicals and musical performances for children.

History

The first theater in the city of Izhevse was organized in 1931. He was dramatic. But he also had an opera troupe. Soloists invited from the "Bolshoi" worked in it.

In 1934, a ballet studio was organized in the city. Working youth learned to dance there. A ballet troupe for the theater was formed from the studio. The first musical performances that the audience saw in Izhevsk: "The Barber of Seville", "Mermaid", "Faust", "Prince Igor", "The Tsar's Bride", "Eugene Onegin", "Cio-Cio-San".

In 1958, a musical and drama theater appeared in the city. His repertoire included operas, ballets and dramas. In 1973, it was transformed into the Musical Theater of the UASSR. Operettas were performed on its stage. Performances were also staged, the music for which was written by Udmurt composers.

The State Opera and Ballet Theater (Izhevsk) was founded in 1993. Today it is the cultural center of Udmurtia. Since 2010 he has been leadingtheater I. L. Galushko. The post of chief conductor is occupied by N. S. Rogotnev. The Izhevsk Theater is the only academic theater in the homeland of the great Russian composer P. I. Tchaikovsky. This obliges him to have operas and ballets by Pyotr Ilyich in his repertoire.

The Opera and Ballet Theater (Izhevsk) compensates the audience for the lack of musical comedy in the city, so its repertoire includes many operettas, both classical and Soviet. And there are also musicals that are popular today. As for ballet, here you can see not only classical dances. The theater troupe presents performances in modern genres. Dancers master modern and neoclassic. Also in the repertoire there are performances for children and youth. Subscriptions are offered to students. The Izhevsk Opera is doing a great job of introducing the younger generation and youth to the art. In addition to performances, various concerts are regularly held in the theater.

Izhevsk Opera and Ballet Theater is actively touring. The troupe presents its productions on the stages of such cities as Arkhangelsk, Kazan, Novgorod, Penza, Cheboksary, Pskov, Murmansk, Stavropol, Yoshkar-Ola, Perm, Moscow, Kirov. The theater made tours of the cities of France and China.

On stagethe Izhevsk Opera House performed by outstanding musicians of Russia. Leading figures of vocal and ballet have repeatedly taken part in the performances.

Soloists of the theater perform at various festivals and competitions. Very often they receive prizes and awards. They also take part in productions of foreign theaters.

The theater troupe consists of graduates of the Republican College of Music; Kazan, Perm, Ufa and Saratov choreographic schools; art institutes of Rostov-on-Don and Ufa; St. Petersburg Academy of Ballet named after A. Ya. Vaganova; Ural, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan conservatories.
