The history of the Victor Savin Drama Theater

The founder of the theater, whose name the temple of arts now bears, gathered in 1918 a troupe of amateur actors, for whom he himself wrote a play. At the beginning of 1919, the premiere of a performance based on his work took place. The audience enthusiastically accepted the performance. In 1921, Viktor Savin became the organizer of the theatrical association, which lasted 8 years and played a very important role in the development of culture in the region. Soon there was a need to create a professional theater. And in 1930, specialists from Moscow were invited to the city, who held theater courses for amateur actors for a month.

After that, KIPPT was organized - the Komi instructive mobile demonstration theater. But only in 1936 theatrical art in the city reached a professional level. Professional artists appeared, Vyborov V. P., a graduate of the Leningrad College of Performing Arts, became the leader. As a result, a drama theater was formed, the premiere production of which was Maxim Gorky's play Yegor Bulychev and Others. Since then, to this day, performances are held here in Russian and in the Komi language. The theater received the name of Viktor Savin in 1978.

This theater began its existence in 1992. Its founder is People's Artist of Komi S. G. Gorchakova. At first it was a folklore theater, and in 2005, by decision of the Government of the Republic, it was decided to give it the name that it now bears.
