History of the theater
The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater (Ufa) played its first performance in 1938. The troupe included graduates of the Moscow Conservatory and the Leningrad Choreographic School.
During the Second World War, the Kyiv Opera House was evacuated to the city. The Bashkir troupe fruitfully collaborated with Ukrainian colleagues. Kyiv artists shared their experience with young Bashkir soloists.
In the 1950s The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater clearly showed itself as a mature creative team. As a result, almost 7 artists of the troupe received government awards and honorary titles.
For more than 20 years, the theater has been holding two international festivals every year. "Chaliapin Evenings in Ufa" was born in1991. This is a festival of opera soloists. Professional artists from the best theaters of the country and the world come here. The second project is the festival of ballet art named after R. Nuriev. The idea of its creation belongs to Yuri Grigorovich. Dancers from different countries take part in the festival.
In the late 90s, days of Bashkir culture were held in Moscow. The theater presented several of its performances to residents and guests of the capital: “On the Night of the Lunar Eclipse”, “Crane Song” and “Kakhym-Turya”. The last of which became the winner of the Golden Mask. The operas The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart and Un ballo in maschera by G. Verdi were nominated for the main theater award of the country in several positions at once.
The ballet dancer of the Ufa Theater Z. A. Nasretdinova was awarded the Golden Mask in 2008. She was awarded this award in the nomination "For Honor and Dignity". In addition, the International Biographical Council, located in British Cambridge, awarded her the title of "International Professional". And also Z. Nasretdinova received the Soul of Dance prize, awarded to her by the editorial board of the Ballet magazine.
In 2006, the theater was declared the best creative team. The eponymous award was presented to the troupe at the F. Volkov International Festival in the city of Yaroslavl, where the artists presented their ballet "Arkaim".
Leading soloists of the Ufa Opera often become members of delegations of art masters from the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Russian Federation. They travel abroad for presentations, conferences, gala concerts.
The theater is actively touringactivity. The artists have already visited Holland, Mexico, USA, Egypt, Italy, Belgium, France, China, Turkey, Thailand, Brazil, Portugal and other countries. In 2008, the troupe performed in South Korea. The tour was so successful that the team was awarded a high award. The artists were presented with a copy of the Crown of the first Emperor of Korea. The Bashkir opera enjoys great prestige and is recognized all over the world.
In our country, the theater was awarded the "1000 Best Organizations of Russia-2009" and "National Treasure of Russia-2010" awards.
Great public outcry in the republic and in the Russian Federation was caused by several recent premieres of the troupe. These are operas: La marionette, Madama Butterfly, Nucky, Prometheus and Prince Igor. These performances are still in the theatre's repertoire today.
In 2009, the theater got a second stage - the Small Hall. There are chamber performances, as well as concerts. Recently, several premieres took place on this stage. These are: the ballets "Non-classical divertissement" and "Seven Beauties", the operas "Walpurgis Night" and "Love Potion", the musical comedy "Sister-in-law" and the children's musical "The Birthday of Leopold the Cat".
