Prokofiev and operas by Italian composers created during that period became landmarks for the theater. At the same time, classical operettas entered the repertoire.

In 1988, the Dnepropetrovsk Opera was honored to perform on the stage of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre. In the Soviet years, this was the highest achievement.

Children's Drawing Contest

Every year, in February, a competition of children's drawings is held by the Opera House (Dnepropetrovsk). Exhibitions of the best paintings written by boys and girls are held in the opera itself. The theme of the competition is "Theater through the eyes of children". Children from 9 to 17 years old participate in it,engaged in circles, art studios and art schools. This year, 200 works took part in the competition. Of these, 67 drawings were selected for the exhibition.
