Probably today's youth do not even know that once, back in Soviet times, there was such a mega-popular group "Dialogue", the heyday of which came in the 1970-1980s. Let's see what was so unusual in her work.

History of Creation

The Dialog group itself officially came into being in 1978. It happened thanks to the efforts of Kim Breitburg, a talented musician from Nikolaev.

In fact, the history of the group began much earlier, because, in fact, it was created on the basis of a group called Kordy, whose formation and first debut on stage dates back to the distant 1969.

The first team included Kim Breitburg, Anatoly Deinega, Viktor Litvinenko and Viktor Bezugly. Later, there were many changes in the composition of the group, but, by the way, the three first members of the team remained together until its very collapse, although the project was still “afloat” at that time.

The end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s were marked by the fact that at the peak of popularity was (in all its manifestations) rock music. Group"Dialogue" at that time became almost the only composition that was allowed to officially tour the USSR.

But real rock was still very far away. As for the period of the band's work, in particular Kim Breitburg of that time, one can very clearly see that he was greatly influenced by such giants of art rock as Genesis (then with Peter Gabriel as a frontman), Yes with the inimitable vocalist Joe Anderson, King Crimson and many more.

Naturally, performing music of this kind was forbidden by the Soviet system, nevertheless, Kim Breitburg very organically entered some elements of art-rock into everyday musical reality.

Not to mention the first studio recordings and magnetic albums, the emphasis was not on glorifying Soviet realities, but almost on opera suites, accompanied by grandiose light shows for those times, which, however, somewhat resembled Pink Floyd, although clearly did not reach the level.

What are such works as "Under the Same Sky" (1980), "One Day Tomorrow" (1986), "In the Middle of the World" (1991) and others worth. What is most interesting, the first two were written to the verses of Kirsanov, with whom Breitburg never ceased cooperation, and Arseniy Tarkovsky wrote the libretto for the third suite.

Ultimate Bloom

So, the rock group "Dialogue" was fully formed by 1978. The performance at the festival “Tbilisi-80. Spring Rhythms. At the same time, The Time Machine debuted with Makarevich, and"Leap Summer" (future "Autograph") with Alexander Sitkovetsky.

But if "Time Machine" offered, so to speak, everyday street rock, the "Dialogue" group and the band then still called "Leap Summer" focused on art. Alas, not all listeners understood this. That is why, a little later, the team began to do what we today call "pop", although Kim Breitburg tried to include elements of serious music in almost every composition.

At least listen to songs like "Everest" or "Constellation of the Hounds of the Dogs" and everything will become clear.

But by the end of the 80s, the band's popularity began to decline. Firstly, “Tender May” and “Mirage” appeared on the pop scene, and the group clearly did not reach the level of heavy metal like “Metal Corrosion” or “Aria”.

Meladze Brothers

Despite all this, the Dialog group gave a start in life to such famous people today as Valery and Konstantin Meladze. Yes Yes! You heard right. They joined the group in 1989, although Valery was listed in the composition purely nominally. Between 1989 and 1996, the team recorded several albums, but they were not particularly popular.

Later Valery Meladze became the leader of the group, and Kim Breitburg retrained as a producer and sound engineer.

Dialogue Group: discography

If we consider the discography that was created by the Dialog group without taking into account the work of the Korda team, it looks like this:

Official albums:

  • 1983 - "Square Man".
  • 1986 - "Simply", "Night Rain".
  • 1988 - Dialogue-3.
  • 1989 - I Put The Spell On The Fire.
  • 1993 - "Autumn Hawk Cry".
  • 1995 - Don't Go My Angel.

Suites:

  • 1979 - Rock opera "The Tale of Igor's Campaign".
  • 1980 - "Under the same sky".
  • 1982 - "I am human".
  • 1984 - "Split with me".
  • 1986 - "Once Tomorrow".
  • 1991 - "In the middle of the world".

By the beginning of the 90s, the band's music had become clearly irrelevant, so the project was simply closed over time, although some former members of the team still tried to perform under the once sensational brand.
