Philippe Page - this is exactly what the real name of the genius composer sounds like - was born on December 28, 1953 in Paris.

Interest in music was instilled in young Philip by his father, who knew how to play the piano and guitar a little, and also mastered the accordion quite well in his youth.

Philip's family lived on the pennies that his father earned by teaching those who wanted to play the piano, as well as on the salary of his mother, who was a cleaner in the office.

It was not easy for young Philip to study at school, but the boy grasped the concepts of the world with amazing speedmusic, and at the age of 12 he entered the conservatory, presenting several of his un titled compositions to the commission.

Early years

Four years later, Philip won the piano competition, cementing his credibility as a future classical music star.

However, contrary to the expectations of teachers, after graduating, Paget chooses for himself a career as a pianist-instrumentalist, combining knowledge of different genres of music, including rock and pop directions that were popular at that time.

Such a decision was dictated not so much by the desire of the young musician as by the difficult situation in his family: the pianist's parents were no longer young and had difficulty supporting their family, so Philip decides to get a job as a composer-arranger.

He spent the next few years touring with stars like Johnny Hallyday, Michel Sardou etc.

Endless travels brought Page not only a little fame and a decent income, but also awarded him a stomach ulcer, from which the future composer was forced to take a short vacation and return to his parents' house.

Music career

1976 was a turning point in the fate and career of Page. Philippe is invited to work by the famous producer Olivier Toussaint, who arranges a young musician with Paul de Senneville, a famous French composer, to record his new composition "Ballad for Adeline".

Page did not expect that the performance of "Ballad for Adeline" would make him famous not only in his native France, but alsoworldwide. It was then that the young composer took a pseudonym for himself - Richard Clayderman, which, as the musician repeatedly admitted, was invented by him in a few minutes in the cramped dressing room of one of the concert halls. The surname Clayderman belonged to Page's maternal great-grandmother, and he simply "took the name Richard out of thin air, as it sounded romantic."

A little later, Richard Clayderman, whose "Moon Tango" becomes a worldwide hit, decides to start a concert activity.

From this moment on, the composer's life is closed in two cycles - recording new material and continuous touring. Surprisingly, in the era of rock music and disco, Clayderman's compositions enjoyed incredible success.

Continuous tours included dozens of countries and hundreds of cities, and new recordings immediately hit high places in the world music charts, allowing labels to release the Frenchman's albums in millions of copies.

Richard Clayderman, whose music is still popular, believes that he achieved success only because all his work is permeated with goodness and light, which are so lacking in the modern world.

Private life

Composer Richard Clayderman's personal life has been as exciting and volatile as his music.

First love - Rosalyn - met Richard at the age of 18, and almost immediately became a wife, giving her daughter Maude to her young husband in 1971. However, a few years later the couple broke up, and already in 1980 the young pianist married again - to his girlfriend Christine. Four years later ina boy appears in the family - Joel.

The composer himself admits that in his second marriage he showed more responsibility than the first time, but endless tours did not leave time for family happiness, and Clayderman was forced to divorce his wife.

Richard Clayderman, whose albums drove and continue to drive the whole world crazy, was lonely for a long time, despite the large number of contenders for the hand and heart of the “prince of romance.”

Many years later, in 2010, the composer realizes that the violinist Tiffany, who played in his orchestra, understands him much better than previous passions, and in 2011 proposes to her, creating a family union for the third time.
