Glenn Hughes is a British vocalist, songwriter and bassist. He is known for his solo career and for his collaborations with Deep Purple, HTP, Phenomena, Tony Iommi and Trapeze. Back in the 60s, the musician organized a group called Finders Keepers. There he sang and played the bass guitar.
Creative biography
The Finders Keepers formed by Glenn were transformed into a funk rock band called Trapeze. In 1973, the musician became the bass player for Deep Purple. He replaced Roger Glover, who left the band at the behest of Blackmore. 3 albums Glenn Hughes recorded Deep Purple, participating in the team until its disbandment in 1976. He became friends with Tommy Bolin, who joined the group.
Glenn even took part in the recording of a solo disc. The worsening drug addiction of the musician caused him to quarrel with other members of the group. In 1976 Hughes returned to Trapeze, he soon left the project again. In 1977 he released a solo album, Play Me Out.
He alth problems
In 1982, Glenn Hughes, together with Pat Thrall, released an album undercalled Hughes/Thrall. Also in the 80s, he collaborated as a vocalist and bassist with various artists, including Gary Moore and Phenomena. Hughes was involved in the creation of Seventh Star. This is the title of Tony Iommi's solo album.
The record company demanded an album from Black Sabbath. Therefore, the work mentioned above was published under the title Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi. Glenn noted that he did not participate in the Black Sabbath group, but supported Iommi's solo project. In the same period, Glenn began to have he alth problems. The entire second half of the 80s was unproductive for Hughes, circumstances forced him to undergo treatment. Glenn returned to musical activities in 1991. Before this happened, the musician managed to survive cardiac arrest and even clinical death.
XXI century
In the 2000s, Hughes surprised fans with colossal creative activity. He released new albums every year. Glenn continued to collaborate with other musicians. He played as a guest colleague. In 2008, a tour took place, during which Glenn performed with concerts in several cities of Russia.
In 2010, a message appeared on the Roadrunner Records website that a new project would be created, in which, in addition to Hughes, virtuoso guitarist Joe Bonamassa and drummer Jason Bonham would take part. The group was named Black Country Communion. The team released 3 studio albums, after that inwork took a break.
She was involved with leaving the Bonamassa project. Hughes formed a new collective called California Breed. In addition to Glenn himself, it included drummer Jason Bonham, as well as vocalist and guitarist Andrew Watt.
