Who doesn't remember that cute funny mole, who was so funny that he was one of the favorite characters of Soviet children. It was created by a Czech cartoonist named Zdeněk Miler. He created a whole animated series with 63 episodes. There are other of his works, but the cartoon about the Mole gave him worldwide fame.
How did Mole appear?
Drawing was little Zdenek Miler's favorite hobby. He found his calling in animation, enrolling in the Paris Graphic School, and then to the institute. He worked as an animator at the Paris Short Animation Studio, where he was commissioned to create an educational animated series.
The animator spent a long time choosing a character in his mind that would interest children and allow him to create an exciting series. He wanted his "protagonist" to be different and sink into the soul of the child. After all, the dream of a creative person is to create a masterpiece that will glorify him and bring aesthetic pleasure to others.
While walking in the woods, he stumbled over a tussock dug by a mole. And suddenly a revelation dawned on him. Suchthe character was not in the animation! He began to develop a fictional character, drawing and trying different options for about a month, and in the end, a funny, pop-eyed Mole was born from under his pencil.
What don't we know about Krotik?
The first episode of "Mole" came out in 1957, and the last one - in 2000. And this means that the cartoon was created for 43 years in a row. This is a record for the duration of the creation of one animated series.
The first episode was with dialogues, but in subsequent episodes the author abandoned spoken language, leaving only laughter, exclamations and other sounds. This was done to eliminate the need for translation into other languages. And so an international cartoon was born, understandable to any child, regardless of their native language.
The voices of his daughters were used in the laughter and exclamations, as he considered these to be the most pleasant sounds in the world. He recorded the laughter and crying of little daughters on magnetic tape, which were later used in the voice acting of the cartoon.
