In the center of the story is operative Sergei Kuzmichev. One day he is sent on a new serious task: he must leave for Moscow to infiltrate one of the most dangerous criminal groups. At first, everything goes like clockwork: he pretends toan ordinary boy from the village who came to the capital to work. But these were only flowers … The real test began when Kuzmichev found himself right in the center of local gang warfare. Remaining true to his cause and his conscience, Sergei decides to stay in the group and complete the task he started.

Broadcast problems
It has already been said that the premiere of the series "The Mole" took place later than planned. The fact is that initially this project was supposed to be released in the last days of May - the first days of June on the NTV television channel. But since at that moment a major political case flared up around this channel, the premiere had to be postponed. In Ukraine, the premiere took place in August, and in Russia - on October 6, 2001, but already on the TV-6 channel, where most of the NTV employees left.
In February 2002, everything fell into place again: the rights to broadcast the series were transferred to NTV, and this company was already involved in the production of the second season.
