Somewhere in the incomprehensible universe is Pandora, a planet inhabited by Na'vi creatures similar to humans. The local population has outstanding physical abilities and an unusual blue tint of the skin. Na'vi are in complete unity with nature, do not strive for the benefits of civilization and live in huge beautiful trees. But a corporation for the development of resources from the Earth intervenes in the peaceful existence of amazing natives, having discovered the valuable mineral unobtanium. To study life on Pandora, genetic scientists are designing special avatar bodies that are a hybrid of a human and a Na'vi.
"Avatar", released in 2009, became the highest-grossing film of all time. Also, this high-budget and high-tech picture has gathered a huge army of fans. Critics received the film no less cordially. Of course, the actors of the film "Avatar" in combination with the colorful story revealed by James Cameron looked more than convincing, helping the viewer to feel the unfolding drama and plunge headlong into the plot. Details thought out to the smallest detail, seriousthe theme raised by the creators, the impeccable stylistic execution - all this makes Avatar a unique film that deserves attention.
But it should be noted that with all the positive assessments, if a thorough analysis is carried out, it turns out that the plot is still quite predictable and has already appeared more than once in other cinematographic works. Moreover, the director tried not to increase the already huge budget and deliberately invited not very stellar representatives of the acting world to the main roles. The actors who got into Avatar played flawlessly and, having become part of such a grandiose project, drew close attention to their personas.
Sam Worthington
Australian actor with a charismatic and masculine appearance played the role of paraplegic ex-marine Jake Sully. At first, Sam appears as a tired, broken man who dreams of being cured and ending his crippling physical imperfection. Gradually, the hero reveals himself to the viewer, becomes brighter, hiscaptures the amazing life on Pandora, the locals, who are far from the stereotype of uneducated and narrow-minded natives, and, of course, Jake, through his avatar, gets physical freedom of action, which he enjoys to the fullest. Worthington's character plunges into a new, unknown culture, he finds himself at some crossroads, feeling that the old ideals and foundations of the worldview are receding into the background. It should be noted that Sam became the "cornerstone" of the film Avatar.
The actors who embodied the rest of the images acted as a kind of frame for the unfolding plot. As the story progresses, the internal battle in the soul of Jake Sully develops into a war already on the real battlefield, where representatives of the human race very cruelly demonstrate their values, while destroying others.
The protagonist changes his worldview, discovering something more, he is captured by a new world with its simple, clean, but sublime organization of the life cycle. The absolute harmony that reigns among the Na'vi people occupies his heart, and Jake goes over to the side of the original potential enemy. This situation often becomes the subject of a dispute between fans and opponents of the picture, the latter call Jake a traitor and apostate.
Zoe Saldana
It is almost impossible to imagine such a film without a love story. For the romantic part, Zoe Saldana was chosen to play the mysterious, kind and feminine Neytiri.
Neytiri's character has been enhanced and adorned with "Avatar". The actors of the main roles (Sam and Zoe) very subtly conveyed all the tragedy of the connection that arose between them, with full awareness of the possible consequences. The alien girl is exactly the thread that connected Jake with the alien and at first hostile world of Pandora. She helped to look at the world through the prism of her attitude, which completely changed the consciousness of the infantryman once devoted to the Motherland.
Sigourney Weaver
Often, heroes who are not assigned the main role leave a bright mark in the memory of the viewer. The film "Avatar" was no exception. Supporting actors, including the notorious Sigourney Weaver, fit amazingly into the plot, personifying the forces of good and evil. Weaver portrayed Dr. Grace Augustine, head of the Avatar science project. Understanding, gentle and responsible, Grace embodies kindness and mercy, she teaches local children and wins over all Na'vi, writes books about the amazing nature of the planet, imbued with sympathy for Jake, trying to help him later, and finally accepts his position.
Despite the absolute unity of the entire tribe in an attempt to save Dr. Augustine, her life is tragically interrupted, but the heroine has won the love of fans around the world. Grace began to appear even in computer games related to the film "Avatar". The actors and the roles performed by them remained in the hearts of the audience for a long time.
Stephen Lang
The antagonist and undisputed villain is Colonel Miles Quaritch. This character isa real "warrior", he is absolutely devoid of sympathy, cold-blooded and cruel. Miles also has a strong inner core, hardened willpower, and he is certainly smart and cunning. James Cameron has repeatedly said that Stephen became his friend and working with him was unforgettable.
