On February 27, 1961, the son of Georgy Guryanov was born in the family of Konstantin Fedorovich Guryanov and Margarita Vikentievna. George's parents were geologists by profession. The birth of a child took place in a maternity hospital located in the Petrogradsky district of Leningrad. The father of the future musician died in 1993, and his mother died in 2013.

Childhood

From early childhood, even before entering school, Georgy Guryanov began to study in a musical circle, located in the Kozitsky House of Culture. There the boy learned to play the piano, as well as string instruments: guitar, balalaika, domra.

The future life of the musician was influenced by the work of the British rock band Led Zeppelin, whose works were once heard by a child. As the musician himself later stated, it was thanks to these rockers that he began to go to the circle. The teachers, having heard from George the reason why he signed up for them, said that for a start he needed to at least learn how to play the balalaika.

Guryanov, who has already become famous, said: “I learned to play the balalaika, but it was not at all like my favorite group. To this, the teacher told me that I need to play rock music eight hours a day, then I can get the experience I need.”

Years of study

The end of the boy's school life took place in 1976, he graduated from secondary school No. 363, which was located in Kupchino. A year later, Guryanov graduated from St. Petersburg Art School No. 1, and the following year he was enrolled in the Serov Leningrad Art School. Studying here failed, so a year later the musician dropped out.

Life in the capital, travel, personal life

The end of the seventies Georgy Guryanov met in Moscow, where he lived until the beginning of the next decade. During his stay in the capital, together with his acquaintances, he founded the Mayakovsky Friends Club. After that, he moved to St. Petersburg, where he spent all the years of his life and work. Until the death of Victor, Georgy Guryanov, whose personal life interested all fans of rock, remained at Kino. As you know, after the death of Viktor Tsoi, the group broke up. It was during the period of work with Tsoi that the nickname "Gustav" stuck to Guryanov.

Participation in various musical compositions

1978-1979 Guryanov spent participating in the Uncle Sam rock band, founded by Sergei Semenov. Georgy played music in it on the bass guitar. He managed to participate in the punk team. From 1983 to 1984 the musician participated in "Automatic Satisfiers". Guryanov managed to prove himself in such compositions: "People's Militia", "Games". In the first, he helped to record drums, in the second he was the drummer.

The eighties, in addition to "Kino", gave him the experience of working with such an ensemble as "New Composers". This duo was one of the first in the Soviet Union to play electronic music. They even tried to carry out a collective project with "Kino", calling it "Start". In "The Ballet of the Three Lovebirds" to the music of the participants - "New Composers" I. Verichev and V. Alakhov - Guryanov performed the part in 1984.

As a drummer, Georgy appears in the group "Pop-mechanics" under the direction of Sergey Kuryokhin. Here he was also a vocalist. Activity in this group fell on 1985.

In his drumming Guryanov, one might say, looked back at foreign bands like Duran Duran. His playing differed from other musicians of that time in its originality and style. At the same time, he played standing, not sitting.

Participation in raves

In the late eighties, Georgy Guryanov began to pay special attention and devote enough time to such areas as techno and house, is related to club trends and even creates the original "raves" in the Northern capital. George was one of the founders and organizers of the capital raves "Gagarin-party" and "Mobile-party". He also owns the authorship of the symbols on the banners of these initial raves.

Georgy's career has developed not only in musical creativity, in parallel he starred in films and music videos. Of the films with his participation, the legendary "Assa", "Rock", "The End of Vacation" can be noted. In them he played himself. In addition, George starred in several more films.

More than once Guryanov was invited to shoot the TV show "Pirate TV", even was the host of the sports project "Spartacus".

In 2010 he played in the film "The Needle" Remix, playing a cameo role as a DJ.

Rashid Nugmanov said that he offered Guryanov to play a role in his movie "The Needle". He was destined for the character of a marijuana collector,riding on a trolley. The musician refused this offer.

Back in 1979, Georgy Guryanov contacted Timur Novikov and joined the so-called "New Artists" team. From that moment on, the musician exhibits his own paintings and takes on direct membership with Novikov in various programs.

From the end of 1989, Georgy became a member of the new academism group. Until the end of his life after that, Guryanov exhibited his works not only in Russia, but also abroad.

In 1990-1991, the musician and part-time artist Guryanov participated in several projects at once, including the First Exhibition on the span of the Palace Bridge, "Youth and Beauty in Art", "Academism and Neoacademism".

After participating in these events, Georgy Guryanov was dubbed “The Conscience of the St. Petersburg Style” among friends.

All the nineties Georgy participates in various exhibitions, projects, movements. The main theme of the artist is sport in all its manifestations. Repeatedly, both in the nineties and at the beginning of this century, personal exhibitions of Guryanov were organized and held.

Final Years

In 2013, Georgy Guryanov was treated at the Botkin medical institution. The musician was diagnosed with hepatitis C, oncology. A serious illness did not allow Guryanov to continue his work. After being discharged from the hospital, he was sent to Germany, underwent a cycle of chemotherapy, but positiveshe gave no results. After that, until his death, he was at home in a serious situation.

July 20, 2013 Georgy Konstantinovich Guryanov died. He was buried at the Smolensk cemetery.
