The name of Alexander Pushkin is known to every Russian person. Everyone read his wonderful fairy tales in childhood, and studied poetic works and stories at school. This is the greatest poet, whose work is worth considering on a global scale. His generally recognized success is largely due to his family, which we will talk about in this article.
Origin
According to legend, the noble family of the Pushkins comes from a noble "husband" Radsha, who lived in the twelfth century. Alexander Sergeevich himself, who studied his family tree, mentioned his ancestor in the poem "My Genealogy", and also named him after the hero of "Ruslan and Lyudmila".
The Pushkin family, no doubt, was proud of their ancestors, especially Abram Petrovich Hannibal, the poet's great-grandfather.
He was born around 1697. Previously, Ethiopia was indicated as the place of his birth, but modern research shows that Abram was born in the Logone Sultanate, which was located in the modern territory of the Republic of Chad.
In early childhood great-grandfatherPushkin was kidnapped. Peter the Great, who loved various rarities, bought it from a slave trader in Europe. Since then, the little black has lived under the king.
As a young man, Abram received from the emperor the post of secretary and a salary of one hundred rubles. He studied in France, participated in the Spanish war. After returning to Russia in 1723, he became a lieutenant engineer of the Preobrazhensky Regiment.
After the death of Peter the Great, he was exiled to Siberia. After the accession of Elizabeth, the rise of Hannibal took place. By the end of his life, he rose to the rank of General-in-Chief.
Abram Petrovich had eleven children, including the son Osip - Pushkin's grandfather.
Mother
The Pushkin family has ancient military traditions dating back centuries. Osip Abramovich also followed in these footsteps - he served in the naval artillery. He retired as a captain of the 2nd rank.
Osip Gannibal was not a model nobleman, had a lot of debts and was accused of bigamy.
Osip and his wife Maria had only one daughter - Nadezhda.
Pushkin's mother was born in St. Petersburg in 1775, after the separation of her parents, she often came to the Kobrino estate. And at the age of twenty-one, she married Sergei Pushkin.
Nadezhda Osipovna was never close to her son Alexander, she was distinguished by unprecedented severity and exactingness. However, the poet loved his mother very much and during a serious illness that claimed her life, he was there.
Pushkin's mother died in 1836 and was buried in the Svyatogorsk monastery. Pushkin, who was seeing his mother off on her last journey, bought a seat next toher grave for herself.
Father
Pushkin's father was also from a military family, and from birth he was enrolled in the army. His father, Lev Aleksandrovich, retired as a lieutenant colonel. The poet, recalling his grandfather, said that he was a tough and even cruel person.
Sergei Lvovich got married early and moved to Moscow from St. Petersburg. He served in the Commissariat Depot, later served in Warsaw.
Pushkin's father had an excellent French education and was a talented amateur poet. In this field, his brother Vasily achieved great success. He collaborated with leading magazines ("Bulletin of Europe"), was engaged in translations. Vasily Lvovich admired his nephew's talent, which he repeatedly stated publicly.
Sergei Lvovich, among others, owned the village of Boldino, where the famous autumn of the poet Pushkin took place.
Brothers and sisters
Pushkin's family was very large, but due to tragic and temporary circumstances, out of seven brothers and sisters, only two survived - older sister Olga and brother Lev.
Olga Sergeevna grew up a very well-read girl, creativity was not alien to her. She was very friendly with her brother Alexander, they walked and talked a lot together. Subsequently, Pushkin will dedicate several poems to his sister.
Olga married Privy Councilor Nikolai Pavlishchev and lived with him in a happy marriage. Their son Leo wrote a memoir about his famous uncle.
Pushkin's brother, LeoSergeevich, was his close friend and literary secretary. Participated in the Persian-Turkish, Polish campaign, lived in Warsaw for some time.
From 1836 he served as a staff captain in the Caucasus, where he learned about the death of his brother. For Leo, it was a real tragedy, he even wanted to shoot himself with Dantes.
From 1842 he lived in Odessa, where he married and where his four children were born.
Wife
The wife of Alexander Pushkin - Natalia Goncharova - was born in 1812 in the family of a hereditary nobleman Nikolai Goncharov and his wife Natalia Nikolaevna, maid of honor of the Empress.
They met in 1828 at a ball. A few months later, Pushkin was already asking her parents for blessings. But they got married only in 1831. At first, the couple lived in seclusion in Tsarskoe Selo, but then they were forced to return to St. Petersburg, since Natalia was invited to the court by the empress.
In 1832, the first-born daughter Maria was born to the spouses. The Pushkin family was in a difficult financial situation, since life in St. Petersburg was not cheap.
In 1835, Natalia met Dantes, a French subject. This fateful meeting will serve in the future as the reason for accusing Natalya Nikolaevna of all troubles.
On January 27, a tragic duel took place, which claimed the life of the great poet. His wife was with him until the last minute. After the funeral, Goncharova decided to leave the capital. Now the main thing in her life was taking care of children.
Descendants
Alexander Pushkin, whose familywas very large, had four children: two sons (Alexander and Grigory) and two daughters (Maria and Natalya). Only Natalya and Grigory were able to acquire heirs.
Pushkin's great-grandchildren lived all over the world. The only and last direct descendant living today is Alexander Alexandrovich Pushkin. He lives in Belgium, is engaged in social and charitable activities.
