Theatre. The Leningrad City Council has existed since the first half of the 20th century. His repertoire today includes performances of various genres and for audiences of all ages. The troupe employs a large number of renowned artists.

History

The Lensoviet Theater (St. Petersburg) was opened in 1933. His first performance was the production of "Mad Money" based on the play by A. N. Ostrovsky. The troupe was headed by a student of V. E. Meyerhold Isaac Kroll. The theater was named "New". Soon a struggle with "Meyerholdism" unfolded, I. Kroll, as his student, was dismissed from his post. His place was taken by the actor, director and teacher Boris Mikhailovich Sushkevich. He brought his students with him. The new leader formed the theater's repertoire competently and tastefully. He chose productions that allowed the actors to reveal their talents to their full potential.

During the war, the theater. Lensovet went on a long tour. The troupe worked in the Far East, the Urals, Siberia, and the Far North. Artists traveled to frontier posts, warships, front lines and hospitals.

The troupe returned to the city only in 1945 - afterWins.

In 1946, Boris Sushkevich died. After him, for a long time, the main directors changed almost every season.

Soon N. P. was appointed to the honorary position. Akimov. He served here for only 5 years, but during this time he managed to do a lot of work. New actors appeared and the repertoire was updated. The audience saw the first Soviet musical - "Spring in Moscow" by V. Gusev.

In 1953 the theater received the name of the Leningrad Council.

In 1960, Igor Petrovich Vladimirov, a student of G. A. Tovstonogov. In a short time he brought the Lensoviet Theater out of a creative crisis, updated the troupe. Thanks to him, the Small Stage was opened.

After the death of I. Vladimirov in 1996, Vladislav Borisovich Pazi took his place. He was a man who expanded the creative possibilities of the team. He took unexpected material for his productions. The theater staged the Russian musical "Vladimirskaya Square" and even the Broadway hit - "Cabaret". V. Pazi invited young artists to the troupe - K. Khabensky, M. Porechenkov, A. Zibrov and many others. Theater performances began to participate in prestigious festivals, as well as win awards. Among them was the "Golden Mask". The theater tour map covers many countries.

In 2006, Vladislav Pazi passed away. He was replaced by Harold Strelkov.

In 2011 Yuri Butusov became the chief director.

Building

Theatre. The Leningrad City Council first settled in a house on Nevsky Prospekt. This building is a former Dutch church. But soon there was a fire. The premises were destroyed. The theater was on the verge of closing. In 1936, the city authorities gave the Lensoviet a new building - on Rubinstein Street. Now there is a children's musical theater "Through the Looking Glass".

During the war, the artists were on long tours. They returned to Leningrad after the Victory. The theater building was bombed. Thanks to the city authorities, the Leningrad City Council Theater received a new building. Its address is Vladimirsky Prospekt, house number 12. Here the troupe is located to this day.

The theater building is one of the architectural monuments. It was built by the rich merchant Korsakov. Its last owner was Sofya Alekseevna, heiress of the Korsakov family. Her grandfather was the confessor of Peter I himself. Sofya Korsakova subsequently married Prince V. Golitsyn, who moved to live in his wife's mansion, which was rare then. The house was beautiful both outside and inside. It was decorated with rich decoration. The appearance of the mansion has been preserved only partially. Prince Golitsyn was wasteful, and the mansion had to be paid for debts. A gambling house was opened in the building.

After the revolution, the mansion passed into the possession of the Commissariat for Culture, which was headed by A. V. Lunacharsky. First, a club was made from the mansion, and then a revolutionary theater. Performances and concerts of amateur performances were held here. Then the building was given to the Youth Theater B. V. Zone. Then it was rebuilt for the needs of the theater. The stage was created and equipped. A large hall has appeared.

The play "Jeanne" tells about a modern woman who is forcedbe strong in order to survive and succeed. But she is alone. And all because we live in a world of weak men.

"We used to be so happy" - a performance dedicated to the Victory Anniversary. The production will tell the audience about how Leningrad lived during the blockade. The performance features poems by M. Tsvetaeva and A. Akhmatova, as well as songs from the war years.

The play "Cylinder" is a comedy about two married couples living in the same apartment. They need to pay off their debts. To earn money for this, they develop a cunning plan. But the deception is exposed.

Performance "Shall I send the theater to hell?" created according to the letters of A. P. Chekhov to his wife. The production incorporates monologues from A. Chekhov's works "Three Sisters", "The Seagull", "The Cherry Orchard", "Uncle Vanya" and "The Wedding".
