About the theater

Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater was opened in 1970. His first performance was the work "The Lark Sings". The premiere took place in January 1971. Initially, the theater was called the musical comedy of Belarus.

In 1981, his own building was built for him, in which he "lives" to this day.

For more than forty years of its existence, the theater has released more than a hundred productions of various musical genres. Many of them are already considered a gold fund.

At the end of the 20th century, the theater repertoire expanded significantly. In addition to the musical comedies of the Soviet period, ballets and classical operettas, it included performances of modern fashionable genres, such as, for example, musicals, as well as concerts. As a result, it expandedstate.

The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater today is, first of all, professional artists, among whom there are both masters of stage art and talented young people. The troupe is able to successfully solve even the most complex tasks of a creative nature. Many artists have titles and are winners of awards, competitions and festivals.

Today the theater is one of the most popular not only in the city, but throughout Belarus. He has a very high reputation. More than 250,000 spectators visit this Temple of Art every year. In addition to performances, the theater also implements a number of different projects. Artists take part in events of city, district and republican significance. Orphans, families with many children, veterans, the disabled, the elderly are given the opportunity to attend performances and concert programs on a preferential or even free basis.

One of the most significant and high-profile events was the premiere of the musical "Sofya Golshanskaya". This production immediately became a favorite with the audience. With her, the theater went on tour in many cities of Belarus, as well as Russia. The premiere of the musical took place in the open air. It happened near the walls of the Golshansky castle, which belonged to the Sapieha family of magnates, where the main character of the play lived. The production was highly appreciated by the audience and critics.

In 2000 the theater was awarded the title of "Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus". And 9 years after this event, it began to be called academic.
