Tokyo Hotel are guys from 2007, when crowds of teenage girls went crazy over emo fights and youth rock music. At least, this is how they were remembered by many, and anyone who was born in the 90s and now recalls his rebellious youth with laughter will say this. But it's already 2015, and the Tokyo Hotel group, it seems, is not at all going to end their career. The guys grew up and changed their style, and their songs acquired a more electronic sound. Is it good? Judge the fans. Well, we will remember their history, what they were and what they have become.

Create a group

Tokyo Hotel first announced itself twelve years ago, back in 2003, by signing a contract with the Hamburg branch of Universal Music under the auspices of their newly minted producer, Peter Hoffman.

Composition of the group

There are four members of the "Tokyo Hotel" grouppeople, two of whom are twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz (frontman and guitarist, respectively), who took up a musical career at the age of nine.

2001 was a very significant year for the brothers. They performed in Magdeburg and there they met with the future second half of the group - drummer and bassist, Gustav Schafer and Georg Listing, practically the same age as the talented twins. The latter, by the way, is the oldest of the group - he was born in 1987. Schafer is a year younger than him (1988), and the twins were born in 1989, September 1, and Tom is only ten minutes older than Bill.

These four guys are the composition of the group "Tokyo Hotel". 2015 did not affect him in any way - he is still the same. But the musicians themselves have changed - their appearance, music and style. But all right.

2005: Early career

In 2005 no one knew the group "Tokyo Hotel". Her biography only begins in this period. For two years of existence, under the strict supervision of Peter Hoffman, the guys recorded an entire album (the soloist Bill took an active part in writing the songs).

But first the band "thrown the bait" by releasing the single Durch den Monsun and its video. The arrow hit right on target and also brought the band Echo and 1Live and Comet awards. It was followed by the video clip Schrei ("Scream"), which took first place in the European charts.

The release of Schrei's debut album only consolidated the success and brought "Tokyo Hotel" the expected fame.

2006: second album and first concert

2006 pleasedfans of the new emo-rock band, having just begun, because at that time another video clip "Tokyo Hotel" was released, this time for the song Rette Mich.

The composition was not new, but rather modified from the first album: the lead singer of the group "Tokyo Hotel" experienced a breakdown in his voice, in addition, some instrumental differences appeared in the song.

The second album was also not completely fresh: it contained three new songs and some re-recorded old ones. It was released in March under the title Schrei: So Laut Du Kannst. The original edition also released the single Der letzte Tag.

But the first concert of the guys outside the Motherland was a much more significant event: on November 18, the Tokyo Hotel group (there is a photo in the article) visited Moscow. Newcomers to the rock scene received more than warmly. For two years, the musicians conquered not only German listeners.

2007: Sweet fruits of fame

In February 2007, Tokyo Hotel releases Zimmer 483 ("Room 483"), which makes the musicians even more popular. In April, the guys started a European tour - 483 Tour. They also pay a visit to Moscow again, and then come with a concert to St. Petersburg. Scream (English version of Schrei) releases in early summer.

In November, the guys finish their more than successful tour in Germany.

2008: first hurdles

2008 brought news that clouded the mood of the fans: due to Bill's illness, the band stopped the concerts. Frontman"Tokyo Hotel" caught laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx). Fortunately, everything worked out, and the March operation on the vocal cords solved all the problems. Fans rejoiced and expected new achievements.

2009: triumph

This year was the year of the release of the new album - Humanoid. No wonder the fans were waiting for the new brainchild of their favorites. In November, the work of "Tokyo Hotel" was once again officially noted: at the MTV Europe Music Awards, the musicians won in the nomination "Best Group". No other German band has ever received such an award.

2010: First world tour

Introducing the album in 2010, the band embarks on the Welcome to Humanoid City world tour. The tour came out even bigger than the previous one. "Tokyo Hotel" visited Asian countries. In addition, DSquared specially prepared designer costumes for the guys for him.

2011: sudden lull

"Tokyo Hotel" continues to conquer horizons and conquer peaks that no German artist has ever reached before, but they seem to be tired of it. The MUZ-TV award this year chose the group as a headliner, so the guys once again pleased Moscow with their visit.

But from that time until 2014, the group had a lull.

2014: Return to action

Tokyo Hotel returned in 2014 with a new video for Love Who Loves You Back. The style of the musicians has changed markedly. From emo-rock, the performers switched to pop-rock with electronicsound. However, the prerequisites for this were already heard in the single Automatic, released in 2011

The brothers' retreat in Los Angeles was not in vain, and in 2014 their new album, Kings of Suburbia, was released.

Present

In the past year, the guys had another world tour. As part of this tour, "Tokyo Hotel" visited Moscow, St. Petersburg, which they loved, and also looked into Kyiv.

Evolution of style

Over the course of their career, Tokyo Hotel has evolved from boy rockers to outrageous young performers. This is most evident in Bill Kaulitz. However, his brother Tom also changed somewhat. But to consider in detail the evolution of Bill's style, which for most of his career was completely confused with a female model, is still more interesting.

In 2005, the youngest Kaulitz was sixteen and already a painted brunette with a pierced eyebrow and penciled eyes. The band's musical style is also indicative - real emo-rock with their unforgettable Schrei. 2006 didn't change the frontman much, except for a little hair growth.

2006-2007 - Bill is still brunette, but white highlights are visible in his hair.

In 2009, Bill decides to make dreadlocks like his brother's, but still black. From chains and loose rock, the lead singer of "Tokyo Hotel" moves on to glam: tight clothes, leather and furs (artificial, the Kaulitz brothers do not recognize the killing of animals).

In 2010, androgynous appearance becomes fashionable. Bill cuts andputs her hair in unimaginable styling, wears hats and participates in model shows already mentioned here DSquared. He wears platforms and heels and is quite comfortable in this look.

2012-2015 - the years of a dramatic change in image: short hair, blond and beard, and in addition, "no" to cosmetics and heels. They are replaced by sports shoes. The transition to this style makes Bill more like a brother. The twins have never been this similar before, with the younger Tom's distinctly feminine image and the older Tom's hip-hop attire.

What about the others?

Tom Kaulitz, who for a long time did not part with dreadlocks, a sweatshirt and pants with "crotch", cut his hair, but got a beard. Now he is brunette.

Georg Listing, whose hair even a girl would envy, also decided to part with her. In addition, once a complete bass player took care of himself, lost weight and pumped up. Georg looks much older and masculine.

And only Gustav Schaefer does not care about years: he is the same, except with a small beard that does not change his appearance much. However, he also has some changes, but not at all in the field of style. Drummer "Tokyo Hotel" found love and got married.

The rest of the band members are not so stable on the love front: neither the bassist, nor the guitarist, nor the lead singer of the "Tokyo Hotel" group found a permanent relationship. The personal life of the guys, in principle, is hidden from the sight of cameras, although recently Bill was seen with Lisa Vanderpump. Butwhether there is something between 25-year-old Kaulitz and 54-year-old Lisa, the paparazzi can only guess.

"Tokyo Hotel": group reviews

Opinions about "Tokyo Hotel" are divided into two completely opposite camps. This article considered musicians, rather, from the point of view of their fans: indeed, in 2005-2007. they have acquired countless numbers of them (especially from adolescence females). As well as the haters. Metalheads, fans of more "tough" music, made the "children's" band an object of ridicule. In 2006, the men's magazine FHM even included Bill Kaulitz in the list of the most asexual famous women.

There were countless parodies of "Tokyo Hotel": the guys in the group were different enough from everyone else to be fertile ground for bullying. But somehow they were discussed, which speaks of their popularity.

The band's career is not over yet. Neither Kaulitz nor their permanent bassist and drummer are going to retire. Who knows, maybe the musicians will still find something to surprise not only fans, but also anti-fans? After all, they have managed to do this more than once, and they still have a lot of time.
