Storyline

The novel was created during the "Khrushchev thaw", when part of the truth about the totalitarian Stalinist regime was revealed. The search for justice in the struggle for truth is the main idea of the book "Heart in the palm of your hand." The summary of the novel, consisting of 40 chapters, tells about the unity of the past and present of Soviet society. Journalist and writer Kirill Shikovich doubts the correctness of the judgments of his book on the activities of the urban underground during the war years, which he wrote in collaboration with the current chairman of the city executive committee Gukan. Later, under the influence of changes in social and political life, the journalist tries to restore the reputation of the leader of the underground detachment Savic, who for many years was considered a traitor.

Shikovich's close friend - surgeon Yarosh -also a former underground worker. He does not support the journalist in the desire to rewrite the book, being wary that the revision of events may serve as a pretext for personal revenge. However, Shikovich manages to work on a work where the main idea is connected with a new perception of the life of a Soviet person. A fair account of events leads to a renewal of the history of the urban underground. The storyline of the work “Heart in the palm of your hand” (a summary of the chapters cannot convey the whole energy) is bright, intriguing, tense.

Role of title

In Ivan Shamyakin's novel "Heart in the palm of your hand" (a brief summary confirms a certain symbolism of the title) there is a constant image of Zosya Savich's suffering heart. The pain is not only physical, but also mental. Through an allegorical image, the writer tries to convey the idea of how hard it was for the truth to be born in the life of Soviet society.

Events and conflicts of the 60s of the last century, described with unprecedented brightness in the novel, can intrigue the reader.
