Biography

Jonathan Eduard Bernthal was born on September 20, 1976 in the US city of Washington, DC. Grew up in the Jewish family of Joan Lurie (née Marks) and lawyer Eric Lawrence "Rick" Bernthal, who works in one of the most prestigious law firms in the world.

His paternal grandfather, Murray Bernthal, was a producer and musician. The maternal grandfather was German, and the rest of the family's ancestors were emigrants from Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Austria. In the family, John Bernthal was not the only child, he has two brothers - Thomas and Nicholas.

Studied at the Washington Sidwell School. After graduation, he was educated at Skidmore College in the state of New York.

Later he came to Moscow, where he studied at the famous Moscow Art Theater School. While studying at the Moscow Art Theater, John played professional baseball in the European Federation.
