In January 2013, Sergei Filin was attacked near his house. An attempt was made on him. An unidentified man doused the ballet master's face with acid. The organizer of the crime is the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Ballet Pavel Dmitrichenko. The perpetrator is his neighbor in the country, Yuri Zarutsky, who has already served sentences in places of deprivation of liberty before. According to the leadership of the Bolshoi Theater, the motive for the crime lies in the fact that the organizer of the crime wanted to remove Sergei Yuryevich from his post and take his place. Sergei was in Germany for more than one month on treatment. He has had over 20 surgeries. The choreographer's vision was not completely restored. The perpetrators of the attack were sentenced to 6 years in a strict regime colony. Sergei Yuryevich, after undergoing treatment, returned to his duties as artistic director. In 2014, S. Filin was hospitalized with a diagnosis of angioedema. This happened due to the rejection of the skin by the body, which was transplanted on the face during plastic surgery. Now Sergey Yuryevich continues to work at the Bolshoi Theater.
