Private life

Orlov Alexander Sergeevich has been married to actress and TV presenter Alla Budnitskaya for 60 years. Their marriage can be described as perfect, despite the fact that she is friendly and open to communication, and he is closed, shy and laconic.

The future spouses met at a time when the young man was just starting to try his hand at directing. As a director, Alexander Orlov never appointed Budnitskaya to lead roles.

Alla, shortly after her marriage, got into a terrible car accident, barely survived, undergoing several operations and clinical death. Then she was given a terrible diagnosis: a woman will never be able to have children. Alexander comforted his wife, and the couple adopted a foster child. And now the adult actress - Daria Drozdovskaya - gave her adoptive parents two beautiful grandchildren.

Director Alexander Orlov has a brother - Gennady, a sportscaster.

Creative activity

Trying to realize his natural talents to the greatest extent, Alexander tried himself in the acting field. Among the most famous films with his participation: "A Year Like Life", "Potter's Wheel", "Liberty Sisters". But his filmography as a director and screenwriter is much more voluminous.

Orlov's directorial debut is considered to be the children's adventure musical film "The Amazing Boy". During the filming process, the director met the then little-known AllaPugacheva. Feeling her grandiose potential, the cinematographer further attracted the singer to work on his projects. So, two years later, her voice sounded again in his tape “Train Stop - Two Minutes.”

But with the success of the film "The Woman Who Sings" hardly any other project of the director can be compared. The film became the leader of the Soviet film distribution, and Pugacheva was recognized as the best actress in 1978.

Inspired by success, Alexander Orlov shoots the following TV shows: "Monsieur Lenoir, who …", "Gobsek" and "Knives".

At the same time, the author prefers adaptations of classical literary works. One of the best works of Orlov is considered to be the film "The Secret of Edwin Drood" (1980). The television performance was based on the unfinished novel by C. Dickens. The picture makes an indelible impression with its stunning English authenticity, close to the reference "Sherlock Holmes" by I. Maslennikov.
