A book about nature is one of the most basic ways to help children learn more about our world, teach them to love their native country, and instill a kind attitude towards our little brothers. Russian writers who created wonderful works on this subject paid attention not only to sketches of landscapes, but also to moral and ethical content. A long list could be given of the names of those who wrote about nature.
Nature books: authors
Of course, the first who comes to mind at the mere mention of such a genre as a story about nature are Mikhail Prishvin and Konstantin Paustovsky. Their works for children are studied at school. Among the stories of these writers there are those that are intended for the smallest readers, but this does not exclude the presence of more serious and "adult" works in their arsenal.
A wonderful author of the early 20th century, Ivan Shmelev, who was forced to emigrate abroad after the revolution, also wrote about nature. There is so much love for his native land, for the Russian people in his books, that everyone simply needs to read them. Sometimes there is a religious element in his works, and all church holidays thatdescribes the author, invariably evoke awe in readers, a sense of unity with their people.
Another well-known author-naturalist - Boris Zhitkov. He surprisingly vividly described the behavior of animals, changes in nature that occur with the change of seasons.
Books about nature and animals were written by such authors as Pogodin R., Aleshin V., Ehrenburg I. From foreign classics: J. London, M. Twain and others.
Analysis of some works
You can't talk about literary works without analyzing them. The peculiarity of the works of this subject is that short stories are combined into whole books. The titles of books about nature, as a rule, are simple and uncomplicated, immediately setting you up for the main theme of the work.
M. Prishvin, "Forest Master"
This is a cycle of stories that got its name from one of them. The whole collection is imbued with a common thought: can a person be the owner of the forest? Prishvin unequivocally says no. In the first story, "Spider Web", the narrator appears to the reader as a person with whom the forest itself shares its secrets. He saw thousands of little cobwebs stretched from one tree to another. When he realized this, he began to walk so as not to hurt those that he saw. This story primarily teaches respect for nature, as well as the ability to feel the beauty and charm of the environment. The protagonist of the story, on behalf of whom the narration is being conducted, becomes a witness of how a mischievous boy set fire to tar on a tree. Heroextinguished the fire. And the prankster - the "forest master" - was reproached by his reasonable girlfriend Zina. All three heroes together wait out the rain under the tree so as not to get wet. The narrator says that there is nothing more beautiful than listening to the warm summer rain in the forest, and the reader also wants to enjoy such moments.
Pantry of the sun
This is perhaps the most famous book about nature. Prishvin writes it in a very beautiful language. He tries to draw the attention of the young reader to the extraordinary greatness of Russian nature, to instill love for it. The heroes of the story are two orphaned children Mitrash and Nastya. Mitrasha constantly teaches his sister. He tells her a lot of what his father told him. Prishvin describes the forest in great detail. He pays attention to every berry and every leaf, and this is why the story is valuable.
K. Paustovsky, "Golden Line"
This story is about fishing. The author lovingly describes a trip with his grandfather for fish: how horse sorrel whipped him, how quail sang in the bushes, how summer rain began. The heroes managed to catch a huge golden tench, which was the envy of all the villagers.
Hare paws
This is a very kind book about nature. A story about how animals and humans can interact. Grandfather once went hunting, shot at a hare, but missed. And then a fire started in the forest. He began to run away from the fire, but the fire spread very quickly and death overtook him. then suddenly he saw a hare, which was also fleeing from the fire. Grandpa knewthat animals feel where the fire comes from, and ran after the beast. Gray led grandfather out of the fire. The animal had charred paws and belly. Grandfather and grandson Vanka took the hare to the veterinarian, looked after him. So, he recovered and stayed with his grandfather, but in the wild he also ran. And the old hunter still feels guilty before his savior for shooting him.
Books about wildlife are always instructive. They help explain to the child where good and where evil is, how to act. Russian writers paid special attention to landscapes. Of course, the favorite area is the forest. After all, it is he who is associated with Russia.
Not every book about nature contains such detailed descriptions of it. A striking example is the work of Jack London's "White Fang". Designed for teenage reading, it fosters respect and love for those who have been tamed by man.
J. London, White Fang
The son of a dog and a wolf, White Fang, was at first very glad that he got to the white people. He was raised as a fighting dog. But one day his beloved owner almost beat him to death because of a loss. Then it was bought by another white man - Scott. White Fang was distrustful of him, but then he got used to it. Scott took the dog with him to California, where at first the animal was unaccustomed. The farm is quiet and peaceful. But then Fang got used to it, he once saved a person from death, while being seriously injured. But the strong animal recovered. White Fang repaid Scott's good attitude with his love anddevotion.
Thus, a book about nature is not just a way to learn new things about the world, but also a good opportunity to develop kindness, a sense of beauty, all human qualities.
