American action movies: to watch or not to watch

If you're going to spend an evening watching a movie, it will most likely be an American movie. Action, comedy, melodrama, science fiction - tapes of all genres are being stamped at an amazing speed in the Hollywood factory of miracles. It is these films that account for the lion's share of all world box office receipts, and it is Hollywood actors who are known all over the world. Of course, there are other works - French, English, Brazilian and Turkish, even domestic cinema shows some signs of life. And yet, in terms of audience interest, they do not reach Hollywood films. I would like to note that films from other countries (including Russian ones) are no worse, and often even better. It's just that Hollywood is a giant monopoly that doesn't want to let anyone into its market. All tricks are used: multimillion-dollar commercials to support the next tape, reshooting (remake) of a foreign film with a good plot, studying demand, etc.

American action movies have long become synonymous with the most base and, to put it mildly, low-intellectual films. And there are reasons for this. Recall the typical American action movies of the 80s and 90s. These tapes were created according to one primitive pattern:

1. Unkillable protagonist. Even a direct shot to the heart or a fracture of the spine (blindness, lameness, amnesia) cannot stop his fight against all the injustice of the world (universal evil, the main villain, a gang of thugs).

2. The use of the most amazing weapons: pistols with endless ammo, rocket launchers (which were “accidentally lying around” with a good friend of the protagonist), swords, nunchucks, etc. Moreover, the protagonist perfectly knows how to use all these devices and knows different methods of warfare: from the secret developments of Shaolin monks to freestyle wrestling using mops and other handy equipment.

3. American militants are distinguished by simply a fantastic number of murders with nuclear devices (missiles) - the number of corpses ranges from several tens to hundreds of thousands.

4. An abundance of explosions: a helicopter explodes from hitting a well-aimed stone, houses - from bombs, cars - just like that. Even bicycles and mailboxes explode.

5. The basis of the plot is revenge.

What is the difference between the American action movie of 2013 and its predecessors? Basically, the films remained the same: incredibly cool main characters, a lot of fights, weapons, explosions. True, there are changes for the better: ammunition in weapons began to run out (in accordance with at least some logical laws), the number of rocket launchers and hand grenade launchers per average hero decreased, and the mainstorylines began to be built not on revenge for the beloved girl (brother, father, maternal great-aunt's second cousin), but on the fact that the main characters, by chance, get involved in some unexpected events. It cannot be said that it has become more believable (not that genre), but the absence of outright film bloopers has clearly benefited. In general, watch or not watch American action movies, it's up to you. This genre is either loved and accepted with all its shortcomings, or not watched at all.
