Childhood

Avraam Ostrovsky was born on February 25, 1914 in Syzran. His name was later changed to "Arkady". His father, Ilya Ilyich, tuned musical instruments. He himself was a good pianist. But one day a misfortune happened, and Ilya Ilyich lost his finger. Because of this, he forever said goodbye to the dream of becoming a professional pianist. But his son, Arkady Ostrovsky, followed in his footsteps.

Despite the fact that the family was rather poor, the father hired a piano teacher for his son. Arkady liked the lessons very much, but he got tired of playing etudes and scales methodically and for a long time, and he often began to improvise. By the age of 14, he already played the piano perfectly. Therefore, for the son's further career, the family planned to move. These plans were hastened by the death of Arkady's mother.

Education

In 1927 his family moved to live in Leningrad. There Arkady began to study with Ivan Belozemtsev. But material difficulties arose and classes were temporarilystopped. To help his father, Arkady first entered the FZU. The master was very pleased with him and predicted for him the career of a blacksmith. But one day, seeing an old piano in the club lobby, Arkady played a w altz with one finger. Then one day he replaced one of the musicians, and the director of the club offered him a part-time job in the evenings.

Soon Arkady Ostrovsky resumed classes with Belozemtsev. And he advised him to enter the musical college. Arkady did just that in 1930. I liked the classes very much, although I often had to skip them, as he helped his younger brother.

Invitation to the State Orchestra

Even during his studies, Arkady began to write orchestrations and play in the orchestra in the evenings. Then Arkady with Matilda, the leader of the circle, and several students created their own concert team. Tours have begun. But they didn't make much money. Often there was not enough for food.

One day a man became interested in them on the train. They talked for a long time, and when the stranger left, he left a note in which he spoke of an imminent meeting, and some money. Upon arrival in Leningrad, Arkady unsuccessfully tried to get a job in some kind of orchestra. And the negotiations dragged on. In 1940, Arkady unexpectedly received an invitation from the same stranger from the train, Rakhlin. He offered him a place in the Utyosov State Orchestra.

Moscow. The beginning of a creative career

Arriving in Moscow, Arkady Ostrovsky began to get acquainted with the musicians. And they really liked it. New tours and programs began. Arkady performed immediatelymultiple responsibilities. He was a pianist, accordionist and arranger at the same time.

War. Ostrovsky becomes a composer

Career takeoff was interrupted by the war. Arkady with the orchestra traveled to the fronts. Most often at that time, Ostrovsky was engaged in arrangements. During these years, the younger brother of Arkady, Roman, died. The first composer's works were created during the war years. He began to write songs to the poems that he was given, including the works of Mikhalkov. The performer was Utesov. The songs were a great success.

Post-war

After the war, Arkady's wife very persistently tried to persuade him to leave the orchestra and pursue a solo career. But Ostrovsky had a different opinion, and was in no hurry to leave his comrades. But still, two years later, he surrendered under the pressure of his wife. The composer M. Fradkin helped her persuade Arkady.

In 1947, a black streak began - the need, there was a desire to return to the orchestra, especially since Arkady was called back. But the wife was categorically against this option. In 1948, with difficulty, Ostrovsky was admitted to the Union of Composers. And from that time on, his talent, and with it his creative career, began to grow. Soon Arkady Ostrovsky, the composer, became one of the most famous and beloved in the country.
