Picture about the defense of Sevastopol "Battle for Sevastopol"

This film was co-produced by Russia and Ukraine and was released in 2015. The director of the picture, Sergei Mokritsky, had never made films about World War 2 before.

The plot is based on the biography of a female sniper, Hero of the Soviet Union Lyudmila Pavlichenko, who during the war destroyed 309 people of the enemy army.

The filming took place in 2013 and 2014 in the cities of Sevastopol, Kyiv, Odessa, Balaklava, Kamenetz-Podolsky.

Events cover the period from 1937 to 1957. The film tells not only about the battles of the Second World War, but also about the personal life of a female sniper. In 1942, Pavlichenko, having already accomplished her military feat, visited the United States as part of the Soviet delegation. There she met Eleanor Roosevelt and gave a speech to American citizens.

The film was attended by actors Yulia Peresild, Oleg Vasilkov, Evgeny Tsyganov, Nikita Tarasov, Polina Pakhomova, Joan Blackham and others.

The soundtrack to the film was written and performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.

The film was nominated for the Golden Eagle Award in8 categories, won in two - "Best Cinematography" and "Best Actress". Also, "Battle for Sevastopol" is the winner of many different Russian awards.
