The answer is very simple - the incredible charisma of the story is given by the characters. "Supernatural" is built as a kind of "road story": two brothers travel, ridding the world of all kinds of evil spirits and getting into dangerous adventures along the way. As events unfold, angels, demons, and even God himself are included in the plot. However, the short description does not explain why the film is so captivating.

The main characters of "Supernatural"

From the very first episode, the viewer is introduced to the main characters, their history and, in fact,plot twist. Sam Winchester was still a baby when his mother died right above his bed, pinned to the ceiling by some mystical force. Only by a miracle, his father, John Winchester, entered the room and managed to save the baby - he handed him to his eldest son, Dean, and ordered him to run outside. But he failed to save his wife.

In the first season, the brothers are practically the only leading characters. Supernatural is a series of complex structure, John Winchester appears only towards the end of the first season, and he can be counted among the main characters of the second season. Likewise, Bobby Singer, a family friend, an elderly connoisseur of all evil spirits, wanders from series to series. We can safely say that there are the main characters of the entire series, and the main characters of the season added to them.

Dean Winchester

Charismatic Jensen Ackles, who played the eldest of the brothers, quickly became a favorite of the audience. Handsome, brave, strong, with a great appetite and a peculiar sense of humor - this guy does not always know what to do in a difficult situation, but he always acts. Perhaps he does stupid things, risks himself too much, but this is an example of loy alty and devotion to the family.

The beauty of Dean Winchester is that he's not perfect. He is the same as ordinary people: he makes mistakes, does stupid things, jokes badly, sometimes chomps while eating, and from time to time goes over to the side of evil. It doesn't seem like this is what really good heroes should do. "Supernatural" is what attracts, the charactersthis series are not glossy images, they are alive and real.

Sam Winchester

If half of the audience goes crazy for Dean Winchester, the other half prefers Sam - the younger brother played by Jared Padalecki. An ambiguous character, which is also difficult to call positive. It seems that Sam Winchester is a kind of opposite of his brother, and he tries to prove it almost throughout the film. First of all, to myself.

Sam is reasonable, balanced and logical, sometimes it even seems that he will help smooth out all the consequences of his older brother's impulsive actions. Castiel

The first angel who came to the aid of the Winchester brothers got Dean straight out of hell, literally pulled him out, leaving a burn in the form of five. The role of Castiel was played by Misha Collins, and only in some episodes the face of an angel is illuminated by ordinary human emotions. It looks pretty funny, because Collins is actually an ironic person with a lively feelinghumor. It must have been difficult for him to keep his face expressionless for so many episodes, but he did a great job.

Castiel is a very atypical angel. He doubts, goes against the dogmas to which other angels are subject, learns to make decisions himself and bear responsibility for them. It's difficult, but Castiel often takes the side of the losing side when the Winchesters are at a disadvantage and confront the whole world, he tries to help. Castiel has a huge number of trials and strength tests, he also puts the world on the brink of death and tries to fix it. In the Supernatural series, the characters are constantly faced with the problem of choosing whether to believe the written rules and their own eyes, or do the right thing.

Own or someone else's?

All the characters of the series can be very conditionally divided into positive and negative, they are constantly drifting from one camp to another. For example, Crowley, the king of hell - he is supposed to be the antagonist, and he is really bad. The Demon King is not supposed to be good, but nothing human is alien to him either: he watches old sentimental films, from time to time helps the Winchesters and sets them up just as calmly.

One of the most charismatic and unexpected characters is Death, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. A calm and stylish old man who loves fast food and makes adjustments to his own rules from time to time.

In the television series "Supernatural" the names of the characters can be sorted out endlessly, and not all of them can be unambiguously attributed toantagonists. The exceptions are, perhaps, the absolute centers of evil, such as Abaddon, the demoness Meg or the angel Zechariah.

The secret of the popularity of the TV series

If even Lucifer looks like a charming character with his own truth, then any viewer can think about life. The heroes of the series "Supernatural" do not appear as an unattainable ideal, to which it is useless to strive, on the contrary. They set an example of resilience - if the Winchester brothers are capable of stupidity, then any ordinary person on this side of the screen should not be killed and execute himself just because he was a little stupid. At least our actions do not plunge the whole world into another Apocalypse. But you can follow their example, not give up and not indulge in reflection, but act, correct what you have done, without letting things take their course.

“Supernatural” is not a moralizing story, it is a fascinating excursion into the world of urban legends, folk beliefs and traditions, religious dogmas and universal values. Many viewers sincerely believe that the "Supernaturals" made them better and stronger, helped them overcome difficulties. For the series, this is the best praise.
