Demelza Poldark, played by Eleanor Tomlinson, is a charming, funny and impulsive girl. She is faithful and ready to please her husband Ross Poldark in everything. The girl met her future husband at the market, when he saved Demelza from a crowd of people trying to take her dog away.

Elizabeth Warleggan (actress Hayda Reid) is Ross's first love, a real lady, discreet, elegant and graceful, the exact opposite of the down to earth Demelza. She is the mistress of the Trenwith House and the widow of Francis Poldark. After the death of her husband, fleeing poverty and loneliness, she accepts a marriage proposal from George Warleggan. From her first marriage she has a son, Geoffrey Charles Poldark, from her second marriage, Valentine andUrsula.

George Warleggan, played by Jack Farthing, is Ross' main enemy, a we althy industrialist and banker. He achieves his goals and becomes an extremely powerful person by manipulating people and destroying them financially.

Ross Poldark, who wants to succeed and find ore in his abandoned tin mines, finds himself on the side of the lower class in the confrontation with the greedy Warleggan clan. The main character was played by Aidan Turner, known for the Hobbit trilogy (Kili the dwarf) and the BBC series Being Human (Vampire Mitchell).

The opinion of viewers and critics

Audience feedback on the series "Poldark" is mostly positive. This is a great show, watching which you can spend a Sunday evening in comfort, cozy curled up under a warm blanket. Poldark is a sumptuous visual feast. Spectacular, mesmerizing landscapes of the Cornish coastline and a charming hero with a halo of curly black hair and a masculine scar on his cheek fell in love with the audience.
