The famous story was filmed three times by domestic filmmakers. The first film was made in 1936. More than half a century later, a five-episode film based on Pushkin's work was released. The story of the noble robber inspired Vyacheslav Nikiforov. He made a film, which today is the best adaptation of the story "Dubrovsky". The film (1988), whose actors were little known to the audience at the time of filming, is an extended version of Pushkin's story. The picture received positive reviews. But few people know that Nikiforov's film was not the first attempt to transfer the famous plot of the story "Dubrovsky" to the screen.

The actors who played in this picture are Boris Livanov, Galina Grigorieva, Nikolai Monakhov, Vladimir Gardin. The director of the film is Alexander Ivanovsky, the creator of the comedy "Tiger Tamer". In the thirties censorship was extremelyhard. Stalin personally supervised the work on each film (and there were not so many of them). And Iosif Vissarionovich, although he appreciated literature, he did not like the plot of Pushkin's story, or rather, the ending.

At Stalin's insistence, the screenwriter changed the denouement of a well-known story. So, in Ivanovsky's film, Dubrovsky died. The robbers, after the death of their leader, got even with the tyrant Troekurov. Apparently, Stalin was not impressed by the nobility of Dubrovsky, who forgave his sworn enemy only because he was the father of his beloved girl.

Noble Robber

In 1988, the series premiered with Mikhail Efremov in the title role. In the filmography of the actor, the offspring of the famous family, there were already four works by that time. Maria Troekurova in this film was played by aspiring actress Marina Zudina. The film could not leave the audience indifferent, if only because the heroes of the Pushkin tragedy were played by the stars of Russian cinema: Kirill Lavrov, Vladimir Samoilov, Viktor Pavlov, Anatoly Romashin.

Movie (2014)

The actors who played sworn enemies in this interpretation of the classic work are Yuri Tsurilo, Alexander Mezentsev. By this time they were already quiteestablished in the profession. Thanks to the advertising campaign and the plot of Pushkin, viewers were looking forward to the film "Dubrovsky". The actors in the filming were mostly famous. But the picture caused conflicting reviews. Fans of Pushkin's work were dissatisfied with this adaptation.

The plot of the book moved to the 2000s. Vladimir Dubrovsky is a lawyer. But when he learns about the machinations of Troekurov, as a result of which he subsequently goes bankrupt, and then, after deep feelings, Andrei Gavrilovich dies, he does not try to prove in court the illegality of his enemy’s actions, but goes along with the villagers to the forest. So did the hero of the literary source. But given that, in the modern interpretation, Dubrovsky is a successful lawyer, such actions may seem implausible.

The main character enters Troekurov's house. But not under the guise of a French tutor, but as a lawyer. A warm relationship develops between Vladimir and Masha, turning into a love affair. Meanwhile, Dubrovsky's assistants are rioting in the vicinity of Troyekurov's possessions. In the end, he explains with Masha, admits that he is not Deforge at all, and disappears. According to the audience's feedback, this adaptation of Pushkin's immortal work is not successful. But the dialogue is well written in the script, and, despite the tragic plot, there is a slight sense of humor.

Eagle

In 1925, American filmmakers created the filmbased on the work "Dubrovsky". Actors of black and white cinema are forgotten today. With the exception of Rudolfo Valentino, the leading man.

This adaptation is free. In the plot there are Cossacks who appeared from nowhere, and even Catherine the Great.
