Several years ago, the Twilight saga became one of the most popular book series in the world. The epic novels deserve such fame thanks to a number of interesting characters. Among them is the powerful vampire Alec Volturi (played by Canadian Cameron Bright in the film).

The Twilight Vampire Saga

Stephanie Meyer's cycle, which is read to teens and adults around the world, consists of five novels and one story. In the center of the story is the love of a beautiful girl named Bella and the vampire Edward.

Besides them, there are many other characters in the novels of the saga. These are both werewolves and a clan of aristocratic vampires who rule all the bloodsuckers in the world - the Volturi.

Since ancient times, in order to be strong, the leaders of the Volturi chose vampires with extraordinary abilities or gifted people and invited them to join them. Thus, over several centuries, they became the most powerful family of bloodsuckers in the history of mankind.

The newfound power has allowed the Volturi to take over the functions of legislative power in the world of vampires. Whereinthe rulers of the Aro clan and his brothers used the talents of the other Volturi to prevent the strengthening of the positions of other families. For example, they were afraid of the Cullen clan, because very gifted vampires began to appear in their family. This fear increased with Bella's conversion and the birth of Renesmee.

Twins Alec and Jane Volturi

These very young-looking vampires are one of the most powerful in the Volturi clan. Jane is known for being able to make any human or vampire suffer unbearable pain.

But it's really worth being afraid of her brother named Alec Volturi. Despite the fact that he seems to be calmer and kinder, in reality he is not. It's just that Alec is better at controlling himself than his emotional sister.

The young man's talent is the ability to muffle all feelings in both humans and vampires. In addition, he can numb not one, but entire groups of creatures. In battle, the Volturi often use Alec's abilities to sneak up on the enemy and attack without losing their warriors.

The young vampire had this gift from birth, but in a weaker form, and gained such mighty power only during conversion. After the bite of Aro, the guy was very tormented and tried to protect himself from pain using his ability. Thus, the weak gift of Alec the human was strengthened and became a powerful vampire weapon.

Alec Volturi: biography in books

The twins' father was a French soldier, and their mother was an Anglo-Saxon peasant woman. Future vampires were born in 800 AD. e. in Britain.

Since childhood twinsJane and Alec Volturi (you can see a photo of the actors who embodied these characters on the screen below) were gifted with extraordinary abilities, which is why their father believed that Alec would help him get rich, and he planned to marry Jane to anyone who would pay for her good money.

The head of the Volturi clan, Aro, found out about unusual children. Arriving and looking at them, the vampire realized that they were still too small to convert them. Therefore, leaving the babies in the care of their parents, he intended to return later and make them vampires of his clan.

However, soon the mother of the twins died of malaria, and the father began to drink a lot and beat his brother and sister. Loneliness and resentment from the father and others contributed to the fact that the talents of the twins developed by leaps and bounds. Jane has learned to inflict hellish pain on those who offend her; and Alec could "turn off" other people's feelings. Due to their young age, children have not yet been able to fully control their abilities. But the peasants in the area began to notice that something was wrong and opened a hunt for them, intending to burn the children at the stake as sorcerers.

Fortunately, Aro found out about the verdict of Jane and Alec in time, who, along with other Volturi, arrived at the place of execution and saved the children. Despite their young age (the twins did not remember exactly how old they were then, presumably 12-13 years old), the children were turned into vampires and joined the clan.

Relationship with sister

The Volturi became a real family for the twins, who cared for them more thanthan their human parents, but Alec remained loyal to Jane above all else. It was because of her that he joined the clan.

From the moment she was converted, Jane felt the joy of becoming a vampire, especially the possibility of not being afraid of anyone. Alec, on the other hand, did not take his appeal so positively. He saw how his sister was devoted to Aro and other elders, while he himself treated them with he althy skepticism, however, being able to perfectly control himself, did not betray his feelings.

Alec's movie character

In the adaptation of the vampire saga "Twilight" Alec Volturi first appears in the second film - The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Despite the fact that in the book the hero is 12-13 years old, in the film he appears before the audience as a sixteen-year-old boy.

In the next two pictures of the movie cycle, the character of Alec is present only formally. But in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, he actively participates in the final battle.

The film does not tell the story of the twins in detail, and they themselves receive very little screen time. Despite this, the charming Canadian actor who played Alec Volturi, after the release of the movie saga, has a lot of fan clubs around the world.

Alec Volturi: actor Cameron Bright

Canadian artist Cameron Bright, despite his previous roles, became famous throughout the world as a young vampire from the Volturi clan.

The actor really likes the character, moreover, in one of the interviewsCameron admitted that he enjoys playing the bad boy alongside Dakota Fanning (Jane Volturi). In addition, Cameron liked that, thanks to his role in this franchise, he was able to attend various conferences, including Comic-con, which he was deprived of due to his young age, participating in X-Men. At the same time, fans, and especially admirers of the Canadian talent, were upset that so little attention was paid to him and his sister in the film adaptation.

During filming, Cameron had to wear lenses, as well as a huge layer of makeup. But despite these inconveniences, Bright played well.

Filmography of the actor

Despite such a young age (at the time of the first appearance in the movie saga "Eclipse" Cameron was only 16 years old), the artist had quite a decent creative experience.

Bright first appeared on the screen at the age of seven, playing in one of the episodes of the Canadian television series Stargate. After that, there were several passing roles, until in 2004 the young actor starred in the mystical thriller The Other. In this film, he played two characters at once: a boy and his clone.

Over the next few years, the future Alec Volturi played minor roles, but in well-known projects: "The Butterfly Effect", "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "4400".

In 2006, young Cameron played the title character in the fantasy blockbuster about vampires Ultraviolet. After that, a series of passing projects followed again, until the young man got the role of Alec Volturi in the Twilight movie saga.

Alec, like the other Volturi,is one of the most controversial and interesting characters in Twilight. It is a pity that not so much time is devoted to this hero in the novel and films. However, fans of the saga hope that Stephenie Meyer will correct this unfortunate omission in her future works. In the meantime, fans can only admire the performer of the role of Alec - Cameron Bright - in new films with his participation.
