Rock has become an integral part of world culture. The best rock bands are sainted and untouchable, while others ingloriously earn money by playing on people's feelings. After all, as Lisa Simpson said: “There is nothing easier than driving a teenager into depression.” It will be just about this galaxy of "holy rockers", although it is unlikely that anyone will turn their tongues to call them righteous and sinless.

When Pepsi and Cola were pushing the youth to get the most out of life, and Nike was demanding "just do it," a lot of musicians took to the stage. Like a kaleidoscope, the world's best rock bands shimmered with different sounds, themes, and extreme images. Separately, I would like to single out two groups: Nirvana and Radiohead.

Nirvana's autistic and depressed lead singer Kurt Cobain popularized a new direction in music - grunge. He delighted the ears of young listeners with his protest, melancholy, minimalism and "dirty" guitar sound. Famous hit Smellslike teen spirit is still on the playlists of many teenagers. The best grunge rock bands of the time were also the Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Pixies. A little later, in the mid-nineties,

no less talented musical experimenters from England – Radiohead appeared on the scene. The band has released eight albums so far. Three of them received Grammy awards in the nomination "Best Album of the Year". Their music is characterized by depressing and philosophical notes with excellent instrumental and electronic accompaniment. The song Paranoid Android may well be considered the anthem of the generation of "zero", confused and attacked by advertising slogans and smiles, consumerist ideology and a futile search for the meaning of life. Their god, like Nietzsche's god, is dead, the "big brother" is defeated by Gorbachev, and their parents still live in the times of a more "red" ideology. Unfortunately, for Russian fans, the likelihood of the arrival of a famous band is reduced to zero, as the musicians refuse to go to Russia because of the authorities and state policy towards nature.

Among heavy music and hard rock, top rock bands such as Metallica, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Pantera, Korn, System of a down and many others stand out.

But rock is not just a protest and aggressive reminder that life is far from office work, movie episodes, love reciprocity and honest power. Pop-punk also received its well-deserved recognition. For pop-punk, all life is a road from one party to another. On my waysad, lyrical moments can also come across, but in general it all turns into one big party. The best rock bands in this direction are Offspring, Green day, Blink182 and Sum41. Avril Lavigne and Pretty Reckless please the female audience with the sound of guitar distortion and love lyrics.

It is difficult to list all the best rock bands, because there are an incredible number of them, all of them have made a significant contribution to the development of musical art. Their songs are played by orchestras and amateur musicians, their music illustrates films, their statements are quoted in blogs, and their names are immortalized on T-shirts and tattoos. And rock itself is not just music, it's a lifestyle!
