Slipknot's music is a mixture of Korn and Marlyn Manson, it can be described as nu metal - a new kind of heavy music that emerged in the late 90s and spread first in the US and then around the world. Slipknot fans call themselves maggots, and the band's lyrics are nihilistic and dark pictures of the darkest side of the human soul. The group performs exclusively in stage costumes, so for a long time Slipknot was seen without masks, perhaps only by friends and relatives of the musicians themselves.

The group was formed in the small American town of Des Moines back in 1995, at that time the line-up was unstable, and the group still could not find its style. However, Slipknot soon received its current name and several permanent members who did not leave the group until the very end. Here are their names:

  • 0 - Joy Jordison, one of the most talented drummers of our time;
  • 1 - Paul Grey, bass guitar;
  • 2 - Chris Fehn,percussionist;
  • 3 - James Root, guitarist;
  • 4 - Craig Jones, in charge of samples;
  • 5 - Sean Crahan aka "The Clown", percussionist and perhaps the most eccentric of the entire Slipknot lineup;
  • 6 - Mick Thompson, guitar;
  • 7 - Corey Taylor, vocals.

The group also includes Sid Wilson, who plays the role of a DJ, but for some reason he was not assigned a serial number.

Like all new bands, Slipknot started their creative activity in their hometown, where, by the way, neither their music nor their style was perceived properly. Already at the very beginning of their career, the guys accurately determined the vector of development of the Slipknot group, even then it was impossible to find photos without masks even on the most advanced and close to the group fan sites. Despite the rather tepid reception of the home audience, the band still saved up the necessary amount for the release of their debut album called "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat." There was only enough money for 1000 copies, but this was enough to attract the attention of influential people in show business. Soon the band signed a contract with Roadrunner Records, and from that moment began the rise of "Slipknot" to the musical pedestal.

The next step for the group was cooperation with a famous producer, under whose leadership the group released the self- titled album in 1999, after which they went to conquer the famous Ozzfest festival. Should it be said that"Slipknot" without masks at the festival was never seen by anyone, except for a few people close to the group? The group's second album was more than successful, receiving platinum status. After that, the group went on tour, where they gained an even larger army of fans.

The next album "Iowa" was released by the band in 2001, but its success was less resounding. After a short tour and a performance at Ozzfest, where, again, the Slipknot band did not appear without masks, the guys went on a short vacation. At this time, some members created side projects, which also gained popularity among maggots and other heavy music lovers, and in 2002, to the delight of fans, a DVD disc was released with an enchanting performance of the group in London. Since the creation of side projects, finding photos of Slipknot members without masks has become more realistic, as even the group's vocalist began to perform without the stage costume inherent in Slipknot.

After Corey Taylor founded Stone Sour, the team began to have disagreements. Several times the guys announced the dissolution of the band, but the love for music still overcame the misunderstandings in the team, and fans of heavy metal can still enjoy the "anti-human lyrics" and truly "hellish" music of their favorite team.
