The pseudonym "Psoy Galaktionovich Korolenko" was chosen by Pavel for a reason. While studying at Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov, the subject of the Ph. D. thesis of the performer were the works of Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko. For the sake of interest, Pavel looked at the note about his birthday in the Orthodox calendar, and found that he was born on the day of the memory of St. Psoy. Comparing this fact with the theme of his scientific research, the future eccentric composer created his pseudonym.

After a few years, Lyon is transferred to an internship at the Lyceum at the Institute of Public Administration and Social Research of Moscow State University, while simultaneously applying for the degree of Doctor of Philology.

Music career

In 1997, Pavel Lion creates the image of Psoy Korolenko, an eccentric academic coupletist who expresses his views on life with the help of simple music. In the same year, Psoy invents a unique technique for playing the synthesizer, which consists in successive and inharmonious finger strikes on the keys.

From 1997 to 1998, Psoy Korolenko actively experiments with versification and music theory, and in 1999 he recorded the album Lomonosov, which received recognition inacademic and pseudo-scientific circles.

The actively created material allowed Psoy to start his concert activity. In the period from 1999 to 2014, he prepared several dozen concert programs, evenings and benefit performances, which were a huge success with the public.

Psy Korolenko became famous for his works, full of terminology, swear words, allusions and metaphors, often incomprehensible to an unprepared listener.

An interesting feature of Psoy Galaktionovich's work is the use of several languages in songs at once. Psoy Korolenko knows Russian, Yiddish, English, French, Ukrainian well and sings in each of these languages, often using several of them in one song.

The accompaniment to simple verses is a monotonous composition, from the point of view of building a melody, performed by Psoy on a Casio synthesizer tuned in accordion mode. However, in addition to the synthesizer, Psoy Korolenko is fluent in guitar, piano, flute, oboe and harmonica.

In addition to his own author's songs, Korolenko is also famous for his " alterations" of already existing well-known songs and verses, most of which he performs at concerts, not included in the studio recording program.

A separate part of Psoy Korolenko's work is archival materials: carefully restored couplets of Russian classics of the early twentieth century, such as Mikhail Savoyarov, Solomon Volkov and others.

Psy Korolenko, whose songs are an examplewitty satirical sketches, refers to its popularity is very ambiguous. On the one hand, the professor does not like increased attention to his person, and on the other hand, he is very happy with the opportunity to give his listeners a good mood.

In 2016, Psoy Korolenko's video "Everything is the same everywhere" became viral, bringing the performer great popularity as a musician and influencing his future concert activity.
