The Musical Theater of Rostov-on-Don was founded in 1919. He received state status after 12 years. Then it was called the Theater of Musical Comedy. The repertoire included only operettas. The Rostov theater was one of the best in the Union. He immediately gained popularity. He did not stop his creative growth even in the difficult war years. The theater passed this test with honor. Among them - "Juno" and "Avos", "Cabaret", "Sharman Cancan", "My Fair Lady", "Sister Kerry", "Abduction", "Murder Order" and others. The performances immediately became popular with the audience. The troupe in those years was replenished with young talented artists.

In 1999, the musical theater (Rostov-on-Don) received its new building, in which it is now located. Its address: Bolshaya Sadovaya street, 134/38. The theater building is one of the best in our country in terms of technical equipment. In addition to performances and concerts, holidays, festivals, forums and so on are held here. The area of the building is 37 thousand square meters. Its stage platform is inferior only to the Bolshoi Theater in terms of its technical equipment and size. A new building for the Rostov theater was being built for a very long time, more than a dozen years. The authors of the project were architects V. Khafizov, G. Dukov and L. Lobak.

In the course of its career, the theater acquired a new status. Now his repertoire includes not only operettas. These include ballets, musicals, symphony concerts, performances for children, operas, rock operas and musical novels. The expansion of the repertoire also required an increase in the troupe. Today, more than 60 ballet dancers and over sixty vocalists serve here, as well as over 70 choristers and over a hundred musicians.

The theater is actively touring around the world. The troupe took their performances to Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Qatar and other countries. ATRostovites' piggy bank has a huge number of awards at the regional, all-Russian and international levels. The troupe cooperates with leading directors, artists, artists, conductors of the world.
