The artistic director of the theater is musician Vyacheslav Kushchev. In 1970 he graduated from the Rostov State Conservatory named after Sergei Rachmaninov. In 1990 he became a candidate of philosophical sciences. Vyacheslav Kushchev headed the musical theater (Rostov) in 1999. Thanks to his leadership, the repertoire expanded. For several years, Vyacheslav managed to assemble a high-class troupe, created an opera and symphony orchestra. On the initiative of V. Kushchev, a children's choir was organized at the theater, and achoreographic department. Thanks to its leader, the troupe regularly goes on tour to other countries and has already managed to conquer the audience of Italy, Wales, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Portugal, England, Qatar, Germany, Scotland, and Spain. V. Kushchev often invites prominent artists (artists, musicians, etc.) from Russia, Europe and America to work on performances.

In 2003, Vyacheslav Kushchev was recognized as the person of the year and awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. In 2007 he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation.
