He immediately offers his housing, but after stories about his crazy life, full of systemic resistance, he asks the main character to hit him. The Storyteller complies with the "landlord's" request, to which he receives an instant response. The "fist" comrades are attracted by the strange behavior of other people, which is why the two decide to organize a "fight club".
Community of fans of fights develops into something more - commandments are created, new batches of soapare made as explosives, events are organized in which participants undertake large-scale acts of vandalism aimed at combating the modern consumer society. The spread of deadly clubs and the death of one of the participants in the Rout action force the protagonist to stop the subversive activities of an organized underground group. The Narrator discovers that "fight clubs" are open in every city, and their fighters mistake him for Tyler. Marl's girlfriend confirms the hero's guess - he is the soap merchant, he himself blew up his comfortable home, it was he who organized the "fight clubs", whose members have already transgressed to the final stage of the Rout action.
