About the theater

Kalyagin's Et Cetera Theater has existed since 1990. His troupe was made up of a course of talented graduates of the Moscow Art Theater School, whose teacher was A. Kalyagin. They graduated and decided to work together. At first, their teacher did not take part in this, he did not even think of creating his own theater. But then he began to help his former students to solve some problems of an organizational nature. Then they asked permission to use A. Kalyagin's name on the poster. Then the famous actor and teacher decided to hold several rehearsals. As a result, he became the artistic director and chief director of the resulting troupe.

The theater Et Cetera at first rented one room, then another for lack of its own. He received his building in 1996. It was located in the center of the capital. But the building is not very suitable for the theater. The hall was intended for conferences, and the stage was not at all suitable for performances. But there was no way to change the room. Nonethelessperformances were staged in such terrible conditions. In 2002, the Moscow government adopted a resolution on the construction of a new building. Now the troupe "lives" at the address: Frolov lane, house 2.

Today the theater Et Cetera attracts attention, it is bright, diverse, unusual, original, original, huge. The architecture of the building is a mixture of all styles. That was the idea of A. Kalyagin. He also came up with the name of the theater. It reflects the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of his aspirations. A. Kalyagin and his troupe wanted to make the theater alive, without rigid ideas, developing, changing, not breaking away from the past, but striving forward, into the future. And so on, that is, Et Cetera. In a word, ellipsis.
