The musical theater (Omsk) has existed since the 40s of the 20th century. Today he has a rich repertoire. There are operas, ballets, operettas, musicals, musical dramas and fairy tales.
History
The musical theater (Omsk) was opened in 1946. The decision to organize it was made by the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR. It was opened on the basis of the Stalingrad musical comedy, which was evacuated to Omsk during the war years. The theater was opened in 1947. The first performance was the operetta "Apple of Love", written by the Soviet composer R. Kheif. She determined the future fate of the theater. It was followed by other operettas by Soviet composers, which formed the basis of the repertoire.
Musical Theater (Omsk) during the first 35 years of its existence had the status of musical comedy. Both popular and little-known operettas by Soviet composers were staged on its stage. The troupe repeatedly became the winner and winner of various festivals, receiving prestigious awards for their performances.
Musical Theater (Omsk) in 1981 was reorganized. It received a new building designed by architects N. N. Struzhin, D. E. Lurie and N. N. Belousova. His status has also changed. From now on, it became known as the musical theater. His first performance in the new status was Tikhon Khrennikov's opera Into the Storm. The opening of the renovated theater took place in January 1982. The following years saw the formation of a new repertoire, which now included ballets and operas.
In the 90s, the troupe began to actively tour abroad. Today the Omsk theater is one of the largest in Siberia. His repertoire includes 60 productions of various genres, including those for children. The theater not only participates in festivals, but also organizes several of them: "Roads of Victory", "World Ballet Stars", "Panorama of Musical Theaters of Russia".
The troupe today goes on tour to Germany, Kazakhstan, USA, China, Israel, Switzerland, Japan and so on. And also to remote towns and villages of the Omsk region. The troupe takes part in the program "Theater to the Village". In addition, artists often perform in military units and educational institutions of the Omsk garrison, as well as for servicemen of the Trans-Baikal and West Siberian military districts.
The troupe today has more than 500 people. Many artists have been working in musical theater for 30 or even 40 years. There are also many young cadres.
