It was a profitable house, which belonged to the businessman I. Lazaryan. In the 40s of the 19th century the building was rebuilt. The author of the project of the renovated mansion was the Italian L. Vendramini. At the end of the 19th century, the building changed again, this time according to the project of the Russian architect A. Khrenov. The owner of the mansion at that time was Princess Urusova. Grand Duke Nicholas bought her house. Then the building was again changed and the second floor took on the form of palace apartments. In 1910, the house was damaged by fire, after which it was rebuilt for theatrical performances.
