The Fifth Chamber Theater (Omsk) is quite young. It was formed in 1990. And from the moment of its appearance, it immediately entered the creative life of the city swiftly and brightly. Today it is already an integral part of Omsk. The first artistic director of the theater was Sergei Rudzinsky. From the first days of its existence, the troupe differed from others existing in the city by its original repertoire.

The theater sought to stage not only the classics known to the public, but also to discover new names of playwrights, look for young authors, stage plays that had never seen the stage, create their own versions of already known productions. The troupe very often went on tour to other countries already in the 90s. Thanks to this, the State Drama Fifth Theater (Omsk) found friends among colleagues in Germany, France, Bulgaria, Finland, Poland and so on.

In 1996, the troupe initiated an interesting project. Days of Japanese culture were organized in Omsk. This project allowed the residents of the city to get acquainted with the performances and culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. In 1998, the German colleagues of the troupe organized the Week of Russian Culture in their country. Performances of the Fifth Theater based on the works of Russian classics were shown there. The troupe is the founder of various festival movements in the region: "Young Theaters of Russia", "Playing Gogol!". Today, the Fifth Theater continues its creative search and interacts with the audience on the principle of dialogue. Actors are capable and willing to work in various genres.
