Mostly the title defines the main idea of the film, becoming a starting point for everything that happens on the screen. But sometimes the name cannot be deciphered, even after watching the movie to the end. In such cases, there is a feeling of bewilderment. Fortunately, the series "It doesn't get better" (reviews will not lie) produced by the Russian Federation in 2015 and the US melodramatic comedy of 1997 with the same name are a pleasant exception. However, the modern South Korean series of the same name is also distinguished by the close connection of the name with its main idea and theme.

Domestic melodramatic series from Evgeny Semenov

The series "It doesn't get better" was named by the reviews as the best new TV product filmed in the iconic places of St. Petersburg. Director of the domestic soapOpera deliberately filmed important episodes on Nevsky Prospekt, English Embankment, Palace Square and in the Peter and Paul Fortress. Screenwriter Anastasia Kasumova made a lot of efforts, and the viewer was able to appreciate a high-quality film shot at the level of overseas shows with the participation of unfamiliar, but talented actors: Marina Konyashkina, Dmitry Shevchenko, Artyom Osipov, Irina Pegova and others. Film critics unanimously called Irina Pegova the decoration of the series, and the lead actress Marina Konyashkina also received laudatory reviews. The filmmakers also noticed Ilya Matyushin in the role of Tishka. The specialists also liked the image created by actress Kristina Kuzmina. Among other things, both the visual component and the stylish, catchy soundtrack of the project were praised.

Storyline

"It doesn't get better" - a series whose actors did their best to convey to the viewer the moral message laid down by the director of the project. The main character Victoria Chernova (Marina Konyashkina) is not deprived of fate. She has everything - an exemplary family (husband and son), a rich and beautiful house, a secure carefree life. However, all apparent well-being collapses at the moment when her husband leaves for another woman, or rather kicks out his wife and son and brings in a new mistress. Victoria with a child temporarily finds shelter with her son's nanny. To ensure her existence, a spoiled beauty gets a job in a supermarket. And soon, to his great surprise, he makes a career there. So, having gone through difficulties and hardships, she learns the price andmoney, and love, and meanness. Despite the fact that the series “It doesn’t get better” reviews of film critics dubbed another movie fairy tale, the viewer liked Semenov’s project.

Made in Korea

South Korean director Kim Hyun-suk presented the series "It's As Good As It Gets" to the audience. Reviews call it autobiographical. The fact is that at the end of the 20th century, the C’est Si Bon music hall was popular in Korea. It was there that many popular performers began their creative careers. The Twin Folio group is no exception, which for two decades, from the 60s to the 80s, created musical compositions in the folk style. "It doesn't get better" - a series whose actors reincarnated as popular folk performers. Actors Kim Yoon Suk, Kim Hee Ae, Jung Woo, Jung Hyun Sung and Han Hyo Joo told the viewer about how it all began, how the musicians met and why they decided to unite in a group.

Brilliant American melodramatic comedy

As Good As It Gets (1997) is, at first glance, an ordinary story, which, thanks to a well-written script by Mark Andrus, professional direction by James L. Brooks and a brilliant cast, has turned into a real masterpiece. It can be safely recommended for viewing.

Jack Nicholson

At the center of the narrative is the unsurpassed Jack Nicholson, an actor who, according to many leading film critics, is able to pull almost any mediocre film to its duelevel. In As Good As It Gets, he created a multifaceted, surprisingly interesting character with a complex personality that led the actor to an absolutely well-deserved third Oscar. The protagonist Melvin Udell has it all - phobias, comic habits, sharp quotes, the drama of a loner who communicates only with a neighbor's dog. By the way, a dog named Werdell was played in turn by six dogs of the Brussels Griffon breed. You never cease to be amazed at Nicholson's acting talent, his bubbling charisma is amazing, his character, whether positive or negative, invariably arouses the sympathy of the viewer. A couple of Jack in this melodrama was Helen Hunt, and the duet of the actors turned out to be excellent.

Main female character in the film

The viewer will certainly feel sympathy for the waitress Carol Connelly. Helen Hunt played the role of a loving mother, accustomed to being afraid of everything in the world, but deadly tired of the emptiness in her personal life. Her heroine is not ready to accept the twists of fate. Therefore, a woman does not want to let a fitful and rather eccentric writer into her usual life. The two central characters seem to be playing cat and mouse. But in the end, two lonely souls still found each other.

Third is not superfluous

To understand the main characters of each other and finally understand themselves and their feelings helped the character, who was embodied on the screen by Greg Kinnear. His hero, a sentimental gay artist Simon, loses almost everything in one moment, his life literally collapses overnight. But he and his dog become the catalyst forthe emerging and developing relationship between the heroes of Hunt and Nicholson. In addition to the three main characters, Carol's mother (Shirley Knight), Simon's friend Frank (Cuba Gooding) and Vincent (Skeet Ulrich) turned out to be quite bright and colorful.

In addition to well-chosen actors, competent direction and a well-thought-out script, the film is distinguished by pleasant humor. In this brilliant melodramatic comedy, I was very pleased with the presence of extremely subtle and ironic, sometimes barely perceptible humor. All the jokes are quite appropriate and sharp. This picture is a must see.
