Biography of Boris Strugatsky

Boris Strugatsky was born in St. Petersburg, almost 8 years later than his brother Arkady. Their father Nathan Strugatsky worked in the field of science, namely, he took the place of a researcher at the State Russian Museum. And her mother, in turn, worked as a teacher at a school, where after the war she was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and received the title of Honored Teacher of the RSFSR.

Boris Strugatsky survived the war in besieged Leningrad. In the winter of 1942, he became very ill, so his brother Arkady and father Nathan went to the evacuation together. Only in 1943 did Arkady manage to return to Leningrad and take the mother of Alexander and Boris out of there. The family returned to Leningrad only in 1945.

In 1950, Boris Strugatsky graduated from high school with a silver medal. After school, he entered the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, graduating in 1955 with a degree in astronomy. After graduating from this university, heenrolled in graduate school, but could not defend his dissertation.

It is interesting that Boris Strugatsky (photo below) does not have a writer's education, only a scientific one. But this did not stop him from writing legendary books for all time. Later, some of them were filmed. Boris and Arkady took part in the production of films, but neither of them was satisfied with the result. "I have resigned myself to the fact that not a single film adaptation coincides with my vision of the book," Boris Strugatsky once admitted. The biography of the author is very interesting, the person worked from childhood until the end of his life.
