Dedicated to all generals. To all colonels. To all lieutenant colonels,”Alber Likhanov begins his appeal to readers. My General, which will be summarized in this article, is a novel for young children.

Start

The work was written on behalf of the first person, the boy Antoshka, originally from Siberia. Children's naive remarks, such as "my friend's name is Keshka, and everything else is the same with us," are mixed with adult arguments about the strength of love. Antoshka calls himself "deputy son" - his dad is deputy chief engineer.

In the novel "My General" Likhanov (we are transmitting a summary of this work) creates many images. Such language is typical for children: mother's face, like her name, is round and kind, and her name is Olga.

The boy talks about the child's perception of the world, how he goes to study French, how his mother made him real over the knee boots so that his feet would not get wet. His life, of course, is not devoid of childish joys, such as not going to school when the temperature outside is minus forty.

Grandpa

With childlike spontaneity, the boy reveals that he has a grandfather whom he has never seen. Grandfather, AntonPetrovich, a general, lives in Moscow, the boy really wants to see him, but since dad works, grandfather serves, their meeting cannot take place.

But one fine day they met: grandfather was dismissed from service for he alth reasons.

Experiences of a retired general

Very touchingly conveys the relationship between grandson and grandfather in the book “My General” Likhanov, the summary cannot convey how the boy reaches out to his grandfather, how hurt he is that grandfather, being in the apartment, bakes pies, cleans the rooms, goes for milk, and Anton Petrovich wants to be busy with business.

The boy's father, trying to help the retired general, arranges for him the position of head of the personnel department at a construction site, but he refuses, he does not want to be a "wedding general".

The boy, trying to be closer to his grandfather, falls ill on purpose, introduces him to Anna Robertovna, an elderly French teacher.

Further in his novel "My General" Likhanov (a summary can only partially convey the fullness of creation) tells how Antoshka gives medicine to his grandfather, and he asks not to tell his parents anything.

The boy, with the curiosity characteristic of all children, really wants to know if his grandfather has a real, "real" secret.

Step-grandson

Antoshka is very proud of his grandfather, classmates and teachers find out that his grandfather is a general.

The boy receives privileges and special treatment from classmates.

In the novel "My General" Likhanov (we continue to consider a summary of his book) tells how pride seized Antoshka, how he begins to consider himself superior to others, how his best friend turned away from him.

Grandfather gets a job as a simple storekeeper, and his grandson learns from him that any job is important.

Antoshka spends winter holidays with his grandfather in a Moscow apartment, the boy learns that his grandfather is not a simple general, but a candidate of science who is testing guns. The boy meets his grandfather's friends, goes to museums with him, they walk and talk a lot.

Returning to Siberia, the grandfather tells the boy that he is his step-grandson, that he adopted his dad when he was very young: retreating after the battle, the grandfather saw a dead woman and next to her a three-year-old boy, Antoshka's dad. Anton Petrovich took him and raised him like his own son. At the end of the story, the grandfather dies, which becomes a great shock for the boy and his parents.

Summing up the summary of "My General" by Likhanov, it is worth noting that this book is useful to read even at an older age.
