The romance of impressive sea voyages has always attracted people, regardless of their differences in gender or social status. And until now, it remains the cherished dream of many inhabitants. The film industry could not ignore such fertile ground. That's why the audience's favorite exciting films appeared, the plot of which is a sea voyage.
Genres and types
Most of the films devoted to marine romance belong to the adventure genre, a smaller part are dramas, science fiction and action films. There are, however, horror films among them. Also, films describing a sea voyage can be divided into four semantic subspecies: legends about sailing ships, modern military and cruise themes, the connection between the sea and the coast (beach) and extreme situations, including survival in the middle of the ocean.
Romantic hype
Unprecedentedromantic excitement is caused by films covering the theme of sailing ships. Fiction films extremely rarely show true historical details: drunken brawls of sailors in the cockpit, lashings and tyranny of sea captains bordering on tyranny. Films about ships of a bygone era introduce the viewer to maritime legends, brave sailors and discoverers, their heroism and fortitude, devotion to ideals and principles. Unfortunately, the time of sailing ships has gone forever, leaving windsurfing and yachts to contemporaries. But, thanks to cinema, a sea voyage is always associated with romance, and the viewer has the opportunity, with bated breath, to watch pictures about ships and their brave crews.
The adventure thriller Moby Dick (1956), the war drama Master and Commander at the End of the Earth, the action adventure Bounty, the historical drama New Earth and all parts of the comedy fantasy action movie are considered excellent examples of films of this kind. Pirates of the Caribbean.
Large Spectacle
Movies based on a sea voyage almost always offer the viewer a large-scale and fascinating spectacle. And this is not surprising, since every large ocean-going vessel is a huge floating city. Therefore, any plot, the action of which takes place on board such a liner, acquires a scale, and therefore becomes very intriguing and interesting. The main plot milestones of paintings of this kind arearmed conflict (sometimes it can even occur with extraterrestrial civilizations, but more often with modern pirates or terrorists), a collision with the elements or mystical phenomena.

The film "Sea Voyage" is called by critics a good, but at the same time somewhat teenage comedy. This film masterpiece will not burden the mind of the beholder with hidden subtext and the search for the philosophical meaning of life. This first film by ex-screenwriter Mort Nathan is rather unfussy and pure mindless fun.
The plot of the picture is based on the history of the misadventures of two friends that happen to them on the liner during the cruise. Nick and Jerry, as a result of the insidious revenge of an employee of a travel company, end up on a liner full of young people with a non-traditional sexual orientation. All comic situations are connected with the fact that the guys are forced to pretend to be in love with each other so as not tostand out from the general background. But at the same time, Jerry manages to fall in love with the only girl on the ship. However, later Nick will be lucky, because he will manage to shoot down a helicopter from a rocket launcher, on which models from the Bikini contest flew. And this is just the beginning of fun and spicy sailing adventures.
By the way, the original title of the film Boat Trip contains a visible allusion to the well-known television series Love Boat ("Ship of Love"). "Sea Voyage" is a film that has another version of the title in the domestic box office - "Sea Adventure".
